Convinced my brother to stay with my parents...…. Still have to feed him dinner. Not sure what we'll have. Not many choices besides sushi or Chinese food.

Ok. Your way sounds to me almost like a crepe. Central Market has a lot of different grains and such from Bob's. I'll need to check it out the next time I'm there. Thanks, Ron...T

I saw your Turkish Coffee post, Tom. Caught this place on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives yesterday. Thought you might like to give it a try if/when in Houston.

My mother made us beef stroganoff.... Brother doesn't get our home cooking much, so it was a treat for him.

My wife makes an amazing Stroganoff. Brazilian style is different, more creamy, and served over rice with little fried potato strings.

I'm taking my mother up to the grocery store. There is a decent Japanese place almost across the street. So I'm thinking of grabbing some sushi. Was going to go to A&W, but on Tuesdays there is a fast food burger chain here that has burgers on sale. So I want to do that tomorrow.

Traveling, so no pics, but had shrimp tempura last night. They even stretched the shrimp out. When I got back to the hotel, I thought "I should make that at home!" Then I watched a couple of YouTube videos. Like this one...

What a PITA! I think I will save this for restaurants! :)

My mother had tempura with her meal. I stole a shrimp...… Did salmon sushi about 8 pieces and then had some rolls.

    My belly is so happy
3:1 ratio of 85% lean beef and spicy sausage cooked in a cast iron skillet to 170F
    parmesan cheese
    caramelized onions
    guacamole
    salsa
    fried egg
    sliced tomato
    green leaf
    pretzel roll
    japanese mayo

Thankfully there is no photo evidence of the carnage necessary to shove it in my burger-hole

Pretzel roll? Dude, you not only gilded the lily, you diamond encrusted it! Well done. Best looking burger I've seen in a long time.

By the way, what's Japanese mayo?

Still traveling. Steak and red wine.

    Cheers
I try and avoid getting full of myself but, man, that burger made me full of myself.

Not really sure how to characterize the difference between kewpie and hellmans or homemade mayo, but i always have a bottle in the fridge for japanese dishes. figured i'd give it a go on the burger and it worked well.

I don't know what's in Japanese mayo. But a few of the rolls I get in Japanese restaurants have a mayo like sauce on them.

I bought 500 grams of deli roast beef. It was on sale for 94cents per 100 grams. I bought some Portuguese buns and I'm thinking about making beef dip for dinner. I'll have the fast food chain here burgers for lunch instead.

Portuguese buns? Intetesting. Can't recall seeing those. They look like what we call bolillos here in Tejas.

Back home. Lentils on the simmer. Red bell pepper. Onion. A few grape tomatoes from the garden. Indian spices. Not totally vegetarian as the liquid is some chicken broth I had in the freezer. Folded in a bit of kale and tofu nearer the end. Not bad. Added a couple of dashes of Tabasco scorpion. Got too enthusiastic! [emoji91][emoji91][emoji91][emoji91] Fortunately, nothing that couldn't be solved by a little ice cream. [emoji2]

I made the beef dip for lunch. Ended up going to Costco and stopping at our local fast food chain for a burger and poutine. At Costco I got a chocolate sundae for dessert..... I was surprised Costco has poutine on their menu.

I bought another jar of Kirkland pesto sauce. Also bought some shrimp and scallops. So one night this week will be seafood pesto.

How is the pesto? Pesto flavor is very dependent on the nuts used to make it. Unfortunately, pignoli, or pine nuts are damn expensive and often times people don't put enough to get the right flavor for that reason. I think walnuts are a lovely option when making your own though.
Your meal with a nice piece of garlic bread sounds fantastic though.

Its pretty good. Its obviously a top selling Kirkland product because they've had it in Costco for years now.

I got a flyer for a new Japanese restaurant. Last thing we need here. But I like trying new places. So I'm going to give it a try tonight with my parents.

The restaurant was decent, I might even go back. Its actually in the next town over, but I'm on the border with them. So its closer for me to go there VS my town. They gave us 20% off our bill as new customers.

    Tonight is pesto seafood night.
