    Hi

We have built a new web site. Here are our Ferrari pages https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/classic-car-tyres/ferrari.html

If you want to look for your car model and have a look at it you will find we are currently doing a massive bargain on full sets of the 215/70VR15 Michelin XWX. These are new tyres fresh from Michelin.

If, while you are poking around on the site you spot any mistakes please let me know. We are keen to have it as an informative site as well as making me a few bob so i can much about with daft old cars too.

    Hi
Fair point with the 328. Currently we only go as far as the 308 QV https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/classic-car-tyres/ferrari/308/gtb-qv.html

Currently because the 328 is fitted with 16" tyres that are still common place (50% profile tyres are no big deal these days) we do not have a bespoke set up. I do have 2 period tyres. However different tread patterns:-

https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/michelin-classic-tyres/sx-mxx3/205-55zr16-michelin-sx-mxx3.html is the correct front tyre i believe, but a Porsche fitment.

    &

https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/michelin-classic-tyres/pilot-sport/225-50zr16-michelin-pilot-sport.html whjich is the correct size for the rear, and also a correct tyre for the front of the TerstRossa. sadly different.

However there is a glimmer of hope. we do currently have a plan to get a Pirelli P7 https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/pirelli-cinturato/p7.html which will give us a correct size front and rear with a period tread pattern.

    What tyre was OE?

    yep here it is https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/classic-car-tyres/ferrari/330.html

    then there is

    330 GT https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/classic-car-tyres/ferrari/330/330-gt.html
    330 GT 2+2 https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/classic-car-tyres/ferrari/330/gt-2-2.html
    330 GTC https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/classic-car-tyres/ferrari/330/gtc.html
    330 GTS https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/classic-car-tyres/ferrari/330/gts.html

I also think i did one of my best youtube films about 330 GTS tyres

Also i am 97% certain that the 330 did not fit 215/70VR15 tyres, because i don't think they had been invented. I think the cars on 15" wheels fitted the 205VR15 Cinturato CN72. https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/catalog/product/view/id/1455/s/205vr15-pirelli-cinturato-cn72/category/2514/

My certainty comes from the fact that 70% profile tyres hadn't been invented yet. I beleiv e this 205 section tyre came out in 64 and it was adopt by a wide raange of manufacturers, as it was the biggest section tyre that was caapable of withstanding these kind of speeds. up untill then all the top cars were running 185VR16 (then some went to 185VR15 such as later 250 Ferrari's) then the 205VR15 came out with the same diameter as a 185Vr16, but a taller wider section at was capable of a V speed rating so all the top cars fitted it.

there is a slight pissabolity that some of the last cars had 70% profile tyres because they came out in 1968

When i first started dealing with Pirelli this tyre wasn't made, but one of my early projects was to get this tyre made again. aesthetically it makes aa big difference, filling up wheel arches again.

Dougal, According to your website the XWX was original equipment for the Miura which I do not think was the case and 330 365 GTC were certainly not fitted with 215/70 VR15 tyres.

    https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/classic-car-tyres/lamborghini/miura.html

    Is this fitment not correct?

    Lamborghini Miura Tyres

The Lamborghini Miura originally fitted at first a 205VR15 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ front and rear.

When 70% profile tyres came out in 1969 the Miura switched to 215/70VR15 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CN12.
(since writing this page i now think that this isn't quite correct as i don't think that the CN12 came out until 1971 Does anyone know better? it could have been Cinturato CN36 https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/pirelli-cinturato/cn36.html or it could have been XWX )

The Miura then moved on to fitting 215/70VR15 front and 225/70VR15 on the rear. Michelin make these tyres in their XWX tread pattern which is an excellent period tyre, so for these cars we recommend 215/70VR15 Michelin XWX on the Front and 225/70VR15 Michelin XWX on the Rear.
( I wonder if these cars were fitting XWX or Cinturato CN12) This is a massive bargain currently https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/catalog/product/view/id/1925/s/set-of-4-215-70vr15-michelin-xwx/category/2605/

The Lamborghini Miura SV originally fitted the PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CN12 215/70VR15 on the Front and PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CN12 255/60VR15 on the Rear. Fortunately for Muira owners these tyres are currently being made again by PIRELLI and are in stock.
This is great news that you can get these tyres again, because so many cars have upgraded SV wheels.

The factory "Uso e manutenzione" ("Operating, maintenance and service handbook") for the 330 GTC/S shows (on page 10) front and rear tires...err, sorry, I mean tyres, as Pirelli 210 x 14" or Dunlop 205 x 14" on light-alloy 7L x 14" cast wheels.

The factory "Varianti alla vettura 330 GTC/S" ("Modifications Introduced in respect of the 330 GTC/S") for the "365 GTC/S 1969" shows Firestone Cavallino Tubeless 205-VR 14" for front and rear tyres.

On their website listing for the 365 GTC, Longstone shows 205/70 WR 14 Pirelli Cinturato CN36 and 205 VR 14 Michelin XWX.

I'm confused by the Longstone chart. The two tyres are quite different, as is vividly shown in the "330 GTS " video that Longstone included a link to. The Michelin 205 VR 14 is an "80" aspect ratio, different from the "70" aspect ratio 205/70 WR 14 Pirelli. If the factory manual calls for 80-series tyres, why is a 70-series also included in the Longstone chart? I am not criticising Longstone, just asking for clarification. I very much appreciate their involvement with FerrariChat and other venues for enthusiasts such as "Harry's Garage."

    Flippin heck you are right!

the reason it is like that is because we made a mistake when building that page. The person responsible has been taken out and shot!

It should be fixed any minute now. here is the link https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/classic-car-tyres/ferrari/365/gts.html

Thank you very much for pointing out this mistake that sort of thing is a great help, stuff does slip through the net, but really we want it right.

if you are conscious about the shooting of slipshod staff members being a little on the stern side, id like to point out that that isn't the sort of action that we would normally do. However, as a tyre company, mistaking the profile like that is a heinous mistake and needs to be dealt with strongly setting an example. under normal circumstances they would normally just be thrashed with a stick with a rusty nail through the end. I hope that puts your mind at rest.

I just want to acknowledge the great service provided by Longstone Tire. I bought a set of four tires for my Daytona last year. Price was great and tires arrived England to Santa Maria (Calif. central coast) in about a week. They were very fresh, as well.

    Many thanks to Longstone!

If I am ever in the UK again, which I fervently hope, I’ll take you up on that! We visited last in the mid-1980s, drove a car from London—Brighton—Inverness—London and much in between over a 3-week period. Driving on the wrong (for me) side of the road around the round-a-bouts was a blast! I never hit anything—I don’t know why. Perhaps it was my wife screeching in my ear after all.

That sounds like a great trip.

I would also encourage you to time a UK visit with a VSCC race meeting. https://www.vscc.co.uk/page/events

You will see things you cannot see anywhere else in the world. This weekend i shall be racing at Mallory Park in a pre war car. but remarkably they will also have an Edwardian race. I don't think you will see a pre 1st world war track race anywhere else in the world
