Well, sorry if I nitpick, but no: only the swiss cars after mid-1987 have cats; those before mid 1987 were identical to the standard "Euro" variant, that is without cat.

The US version had cats from the beginning of the 328 production, just as did the 152 build Australian GTS, and the cars intended for the Japanese market (= these three variants had the "X" engine). Note, and that is very important, that the car produced by the factory for Japan, which can be identified by the letters "JAP" in the VIN (for instance, the last GTB produced is ZFFFXA19JAP0083017, the "X" meaning same engine as US and Australian cars, the JAP meaning "Japanese market") were all Left Hand Drive, contrary to what one would naturally deduce: Japanese are purists, they only want Left Hand Drive Ferraris, just as the Italian cars...

The swiss market received the standard "euro" model until mid-1987, when they received a specific variant for Switzerland with catalysator; this variant was then quickly sold to Sweden (except that the swedish cars have a small water outlet in front of the each headlight pod, to wash the headlights, mandatory in sweden). The VIN is spelled: "ZFFCA19S..." for a swiss model GTB with cat (and ZFFCA20S...) for a swiss GTS with cats. Their engine is specific, their gearing also.
So, if we want to be pedantic...the US cars and the later swiss cars both had cats; the earlier swiss 328 did not.

Note that we have a small number of known example of cars with cats delivered on a market different than the one for which they were originbally intended, because the owner asked for a car with a catalysator: there are two or three known examples of cars originally intended for Japan but delivered new in Austria...

Well, the roof spoiler has been deleted it seems? Not common on an US GTB...

Correct. The only 89 US 328 with spoiler delete, as ordered that way from the factory.

And my own "euro" #81085 doesn't have a roof spoiler either, but she has been ordered like that new; seems that at the end of the production here, the roof spoiler became less popular.
Here she is waiting for me, on May 11th for a spring drive, after passing her "technical control" (mandatory every two years in France) ten days before with flying colors. We are nearing our tenth anniversary...

And this for something completly different:
One of the least well known variant of the 328, the Middle East version, in this case "ZFFWA20TOJ0077862", which has lived an eventful life, ordered new by a Pakistanese gentleman living in London; and eventually came for sale about a year ago here in France, so we had one at hand to discuss it thorougly between friends (Bertrand...)

    You will note that, outwardly:
    - she has the "long lip" front bumper and the flag mirrors, just like an US car, but does not have the four rectangular position lights of the US cars on the fenders; only the two small indicator lights of the Euro version behind each front wheel...
    - the catch, as said a few post above, is the rear bumper: it has the "hot air extraction slot", and the grille around the exhaust pipes pushed backwards, just like a catalysed car...except that it has an non catalysed engine, as confirmed by the "W" in four position in her VIN.
So the Middle East variant outwardly looks to have a catalysed engine...except that it does not!

...A picture on which you see clearly another visual difference of the cars with cats (and the Middle-East variant...) compared to the cars without cats, that of the grille surrounding the exhaust pipes:
it is fitted further back (about two inches) on cars with cats giving only a short protrusion of the exhaust pipes, whereas on cars without cats, the grille is closer to the wheels, and the exhaust pipes standout more.

The nearest swiss GTBs I have bracketing your car (Swiss GTBs, so not GTSs, not other markets) are ZFFCA19S000079588 before, and ZFFCA19S000079667 after, which was for sale two years ago in Ettingen, Switzerland with 32.000 kms (20.000 miles) on the odo.
Your car is a late December 1988 build, but I guess you knew that already.
