I bought a set from Eurospares - price was good as English pound is lower now. Therefore I have a set that needs to be rebuilt if anyone has an idea about who can do it, as I'd like to have a spare set when the new ones start leaking, which they surely will. Delphi, I think, is now a chinese owned company, and produces their shocks there and in Poland. The perceived difficulty in rebuilding these shocks is not the actual rebuilding ( I'm sure Deltavee would have no problem doing it ) but getting supply of the "magnetic" oil required to fill them. As these type of shocks have been installed on many US made vehicles for quite some years now, it's suprising that a supply has not been found - or is it because the price charged for new replacements for the US manufactured vehicles is far less than the Ferraritax we have to pay, so no-one even thinks about rebuilding then instead.
I'm looking at a 599 that apparently had the factory shocks replaced with KWs. My concern would be how the manettino settings would be affected if the shocks were taken out of the equation. Would it affect other systems in that particular setting or would the computer just ignore the lack of shock input ?
On the KW website, the write that the system comes with a new suspension control unit. So the manettino should work for all the other settings. Daniel
My left front is leaking. Will probably just buy new set at GBP2,000 per set. Found a source for the special magneto-rheological oil for possible rebuild option, but at USD725 per liter this oil is not cheap.
There is one company in Poland that rebuild those shocks. So far, I mounted a new set, but next time I will check them. They rebiuld my Mercedes 126 sec Lorinser steering rack and they know what they are doing. Wysłane z iPad za pomocą FerrariChat

I know the dealer recommends shock replacements in pairs, but has any one replaced a single REAR shock successfully?
I sent the information on the shock fluid to my dealer, as a possible option to spending thousands. The response was they did not know much about the company that makes it, or the process, and they would not be willing to tie their repair rack up during the learning process. I guess it is pretty clear they would rather replace two new ones than try to save me money fixing them. This fluid could be a wonderful thing, but the producer is going to have to make it very easy and profitable for a dealer to ever promote it. This is for the guys that know how to do their on work, or a private repair shop that learns the process and competes with the dealer. They would get a lot of business if the refill works and considerably less expensive, because it sounds like all 599's are potential
Sorry. Mechanics it’s not my everyday business nowadays. I can do everything with the car myself, but I’m just turning my screws If you need some help from me, ask and maybe I can do something for you. Wysłane z iPhone za pomocą FerrariChat
Has anyone noticed a difference between the HGTE cars and the standard cars in terms of shock leakage?
I can't think why there would be any difference. It's the same basic product with the same engineering.
Hello you guys. I noticed that many of you have had a leaking shocks, what i would like to know is that when there have been a leak, is the ride soft or hard? I have one 599 at workshop that went suddenly rock hard, there is a sign of small leakage in all shocks, but i don't think that causes that problem. Data from the control unit is also a bit odd. Calibration trimset is between 100-102mm and doesn't change. Position sensor is between 2,3-2,7 volts, and changes +-0,1volts Force (don't know what that means) bounces between 0 to 19921.9N Damping level is constant 0%
On other Ferraris with adjustable shocks, a failure in the system results in going to the full hard position.
I really don't know what all the 599 shock absorber fuss is about. I bought a new set of four from Eurospares, for about $1500 each, and had Tonkin install them. Done.
I changed the control unit for used unit, no affect for the damping. Only value thats different with this control unit is Force, its now 5000-6000N. I think thats learned value and its learned from the old car. I also think its in fail mode at the moment, but what causes it, because there are no error codes?
I contacted the company suggested by Mor in Poland. They will rebuild 599 shocks for about USD$360/each (plus shipping both ways, of course) Seems very reasonable for those of us that think the $6K is a little over the top . Especially if you've already replaced the originals and have 4 paperweights lying around doing nothing ! I'll be sending mine off in the near future so I'll have them ready when the new ones I installed start leaking again.
