When a friend starts asking me about buying his first Ferrari. I try to help until I realize he could careless about the history or what makes them so special. My question am I being Protective or Snobby. We as owners have a hard enough time beating the ********* persona. Why do I feel he wants it for the wrong reason. Why should it even matter to me, it is not my car or my money. Just wanted to get a second opinion.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I've never been much of a history buff. Some people have different reasons than others.

Mine has always been bringing the poster of my elementary school bedroom into my real life garage.

I think the best thing to do for your friend is take him out on some cruises and outings with an FCA / Exotic Car group that doesn't exude ******-baggery and let him get educated and molded through osmosis and fun times.

The way I look at it is what they do with their money is their business, but what I do with my time is my business. If I can tell someone would be a poor caretaker of *anything* I'm not going to waste my time helping them buy one.

Every once in awhile I pick up a new hobby or subscribe myself to dig deeper into something I had not much interest in before but through friends or happenstance, I had a chance to try it and found myself wanting more. Maybe he buys one and trades it in after a year or goes around driving it like a ***** or maybe he gets hooked.

In my opinion it's best to just answer their direct questions without offering too much additional info... they are on their own journey, maybe it will end well, maybe not. But never expect someone to have the same level of enthusiasm as yourself haha. Maybe in time.
