FCA brekky run to Mt Victoria this morning, vette running like a dream Image Unavailable, Please Login
I love that moment when a new engine loosens up, I felt it on the way home, suddenly much quicker revving and idle speed up by 200rpm. One more long run planned, then I'll be set for GG!
Beautiful car lan,,but if they ask any questions just tell them it’s a Vetro What sort of HP are you getting after the engine rebuild?
According to the cam guys, should be 430~450, but I would need a bigger double pump carby to get there. With the stock (vacuum secondaries) carby it will be low 400's, which is enough for me and I prefer to keep the original external appearance. More importantly, the higher lift & longer duration cam really boosts the mid range, which is what you use in the real world and I can definitely feel the difference. No point chasing more power because the car is limited by the skinny tyres, which make it fun to drive at legal-ish speeds. 3 radar traps on Bells Line of Road this morning... How many miles did you do before the engine loosened up ? How many miles will you have done in her before you head off on the GG ? If my car is running then I am not confident of getting much road time before the GG - I might just have to bring up the rear and stop and help Ken Ken when one of his oil hoses ****s itself Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
About 300kms, I want to do 1000 (and the first oil change) before GG. Not a big deal if you run yours in on GG, but drive it as much as possible before, so you can sort out any leaks or issues. The only hassle with a fresh engine is avoiding too much load, too many revs and constant speed. Needs about 5000kms before you can drive normally. The more time spent running in equals the more life you get from the engine.
