It dispels a number of myths and corrects some well-known erroneous published reporting.

Years ago I met the man who he sold the Miura SVR to in Japan, Hiromitso Ito, supercool guy, I had the pleasure of showing him around my ex-Shah of Persia Miura SV in California

Then you'll love Paul Frere's legendary summation for AUTOCAR following the 1967 test of that very car:

"The Miura is really a man's car... if you have money - a lot of it - and want a Miura, you'll just buy it, and to hell with the rest!"

    Good evening all.
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the Shah of Persia's orange Miura 400, it appears in a photo I think taken in Italy in the the snow although it has Tehran number plates fitted, Mr Kidston made a short film about it's snowy adventure but I cannot find any specific mention of this particular Miura on the internet, I have found mention of his SV and his Jota but not this earlier car.
    I am assuming it's a 400 and does anyone know it's fate ?
    Thanks ..

    Hello
I have had another look and it appears the car is a '68 400 chassis number 3303, there are a couple of reasons I am fishing around one of which is that I have worked on it and driven it, admittedly the only Miura I have driven and I had to get it going first, just wondering where it's ended up .
    Thanks Bill.

Bill it's a P400 and I believe it's being restored in Italy, Kidston can shed more light on this.

As Joe mentioned, the this car is in Italy for a renovation. I saw it first time about a year ago, and just recently again, its nowadays in a more reddish orange colour.

    Good evening
earlier I enquired after the Miura 400 owned by the Shah of Persia , it's the one photographed in the snow with the Shah getting in, I worked on this car in the early nineties, it turned up as a non runner and as I wad keen to drive it I worked my way through its issues and did take it for a spin .
I don't know where it went after our place but while I worked on and drove numerous Aston Martin , Ferrari and Porsche cars etc that Miura stands out . Sometime after it left we moved premises and while tidying out the stores I found a number plate from the Shah's car , which I suspect the manager may have spirited away as he had a habit of keeping things from the cars that came through our place, toolkits were a favourite. Now years later I still have a number plate from what was probably the Shah's first Miura , and judging by its slightly wonky digits it may be the front one as in the snowy picture.
I used to have it up on the wall but it may be of interest to someone on here as I am damned if I know what to list it under on EBay, it's an interesting sort of artefact for a Miura fan , thanks Bill.

I love Claudio and talk to him all the time, but guess what? He's wrong, nobody is correct 100% of the time.

I think what Claudio actually means is the SVR was not built or did not exist during Miura production from 1967 to 1973, if that's what he means, then his comments are understandable.

But let's make no mistake, the Lamborghini factory did build a thing called the Miura SVR, whether we like the finished product or not, that much cannot be disputed.

I saw an interview on youtube of a Lamborghini test driver who had applied for the job along with Valentino Balboni in 1974 when they both started as test drivers. So much for the VB claims of him being a test driver of all Miuras that ceased production in 1973.

I've made an effort over the years to meet many of the men behind the machines, get to actually know them, and in some cases work with them regularly, that's been one of the most pleasurable things about my involvement with Lamborghini. Not wanting to name-drop per se, but what the heck I will, it's been a pleasure knowing Messrs Wallace, Zampolli, Balboni, Gandini, Wolf, Dallara and Mimran, and along the way, I made the effort, and I've learned a thing or two.

Claudio was kind enough to write the Foreword for my Miura book as featured on page 6 of it, he come over to our home to pose for a portrait photograph by my wife but she ended up doing another of him at his shop instead.

I've known Claudio @ 20 years, he's helped me maintain a number of Lamborghinis, Miura SV 4884, Countach LP400 1120192, LP400 1120056, LP400S S1 1121036, and more recently just a few months ago, he was over the house again to do the upgraded engineering on my Mimram Downdraft's steering U-joint (by the way you should check yours, it's only a matter of time before it goes, it's a weak link).

Claudio has some really good stories about Bob Wallace but I don't think I can post them here! I joke with him about how bad his memory has become in his old age.

BTW we'll pass on having you sit in on any discussions, we wouldn't want anything that was said misrepresented for personal agenda.

Here's a pic taken by me of Claudio synching my Miura SV 4884 from this series of images http://joesackeyclassics.com/portfolio/ingegnere-claudio-zampolli-4884/ , if you can believe this, I asked him to get out his old Lamborghini SpA factory overalls and pose for the images and he obliged! I think he's laughing about a rude joke I'm making about Lamborghini Trolls on the internet or something, I can't really remember

You'll have to ask Vale himself to verify, but when he did our film with his old Boss Patrick Mimram's Downdraft for us, he declared that he started at Lamborghini in 1968, and then was invited by the shop Foreman to become a test driver because he was always driving the cars in the yard even though he was not supposed to.

Elsewhere, he has stated he started test-driving Miuras in late 1973, to be precise, Simon Kidston's 5110, which was back at the factory being serviced for Gianfranco Innocenti (not technically a new Miura at that point).
