But also back when they still looked good. (Not knockin' the functionality, just the aesthetics...)

I agree as the debut version of the Ferrari 412T2 is one of my all time favorites in the looks department.

12 separate exhaust pipes! That must have put out a "symphony of sound"!

Jo Siffert won the 1971 Austrian GP in a BRM P160. It was pole, win & fastest lap for the Swiss driver who led from start to finish for his second & final GP win.

Ronnie Peterson was a two-time winner of the Austrian GP, Peterson victorious at the 1973 & 1978 races. That victory in 1978 was Ronnie Peterson's last GP win.

1975 - Vittorio Brambilla wins a rain-shortened Austrian GP at the Österreichring. It would be Italian's only GP win. Brambilla crashing into the guardrail just after taking the chequered flag...

Poor Jo had a better time of it in Porsches in the WSCC.
Quite a shame that he, like Jimmy, should lose his life in an inconsequential event (to them).

4 BRMs in the race - spreading themselves that thin was the start of their eventual demise. Both Ferraris blew their engines - a frequent occurrence in late 1971.

Two other Austrians of note in the race - Helmut Marko started 17th in one of those BRMs, and a young man named Niki Lauda started 20th in a March. It was the first GP start for both of them!

A bunch of stern faces, obviously remembering what happened there the year before.
