Wow, I've been to NOLA about 50 times and I missed this place! I thought I had hit up all the noted po boy places. Gotta add this to my list for the next trip to the Big Easy...T

Yes, you gotta try it. It’s not really a Po-boy place, their etouffee and gumbo are top notch. For Po-boys my favs are Domilise’s, casamentos, and parkway. Yours?

From a couple of days ago:

    - baby back ribs from a new bbq place in my small mountain town (above average I’d say. Happy to have them here as we only have 5 places to eat in town)

    - homemade corn bread by the GF (between these and the homemade bagels in the breakfast thread, you can see the gf loves to bake)

    - some leftovers from a steak dinner the night before

    Arrived safe.... Thanks T!!!!

I'm planning on hitting Panda Express today. Not sure if that will be lunch or dinner. If I stay one more night, I'll do Olive Garden for dinner.

Pretty much the same, although I thought Casamento's was the place that least lived up to their hype. I'd add Central Grocery to the list if you are including muffulettas and Johnny's in the Quarter is good, not as good as Parkway & Domilise's. The latter is my favorite. A shrimp po boy and ice cold beer @ 11 AM - where else by the Big Easy! Parasol's is a place in the Garden District, which I saw on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, and it was good. Not great, but up there...T

The only place I've had a Po-boy is at my local French bistro. It was good. But I rather have their Montreal smoke meat.

Gotta get yourself to NO Max. One of the better foodie towns in the U.S. It reminds me of Montreal (admittedly I've been there only 2 times) in that it is one of the few big cities in the U.S. that has a bigger French than Spanish influence, and the food is great. Just don't go in the summer unless you wanna sweat your behind off! ;)

Spare ribs on the smoker. 2.5 hours on the smoke. About 1.5 in the foil.

Pecan wood. I like the sweeter taste of pecan smoke versus oak.

    On the smoke. About 225 - 250 F.

Bad iPhone pic before going into the foil.

Basted every 15 min or so with a concoction made from pureed peaches, about 10 pequin peppers, apple cider vinegar, S&P, garlic powder.

Not sure what we'll have with it, I kick myself for forgetting to ask the wife for sweet corn when she texted me from Kroger, and I'm too lazy to head out myself. ☹️

I'd do that trade! [emoji2] I don't really do ribs often, so I'm kind of flying blind apart from some suggestions I got on a Weber site. I'm afraid that I may dry the ribs out, which is why I asked the missus to pick up spares - cheaper and fattier than other cuts. Fingers crossed. It's resting time.

Well, the corn was well above average.

Grilled with compound butter (cayenne, cumin, lemon pepper and salt and black pepper).

Also with grillled potato and lemon pepper chicken.

First meal back. Last night was Chinese delivery so that doesn’t really count.

Burgers and corn on the BGE. All very good. Had three ears of corn. Still kind of bleary eyed.

Ribs turned out OK. Not much spice remained, but the peach was a good complement to the pork. If I was less lazy, and have thought of it, I'd have fired up the gasser to put a little more char on the ribs.

We had it with this wine. One of the weaker links in the Kirkland family that we've had.

I feel an early morning Kroger run in the Cali to get corn may be required!

Have you tried bacon wrapped inside the husks on ears of corn yet, Tom?

I have not! I ran out to the store in this crazy hot weather to get a few ears of fresh corn. Don't think I have bacon. I may have some of that already cooked microwave bacon the wife gets at Costco. You got me thinking, Ron! Thanks.

Hope you took the long route and had some fun.

Chicken and sausage here tonight. Steamed squash on the side. No pics... wife gets aggravated when I take pics every meal. It was very tasty!

Alas, it was too hot and I was jonesing too much for corn! [emoji2] It was 102 F when I hopped in the 911. Went to the closest Kroger.

Gazpacho to start. Tomatoes from the garden, about a dozen pequin peppers, S&P, paprika. Blitz. Chill. Refreshing and a pleasant bite from the peppers.

Leftover ribs. Slapped them on the gasser to get a little char. Ditto for the corn. It was good.

I came home last night. Since it was early enough I stopped at the Indian casino buffet last night. It was ok, not as good as it was.
