I don’t know the story but I’d sure be more tempted to gamble on this one then the red one. Sure there may be undercarriage damage but it’s probable the damage is far less to repair then the red one. It’s sure interesting the this one and the red one had but it now prices very close to one another if they still don’t. Not that I would be inclined to buy a salvage Ferrari I generally just look to see what there is but if the price were right and I were ready to commit to a project I would. But 110k for a project is a bit high for me.
I would suspect pretty severe damage to the unibody. Why else would it be "totaled"? Too bad these salvage yards never post the insurance inspection/repair estimates...but that is probably self-defeating They want the starry eyed speculators that think it can be fixed on the cheap...or will simply fix it cheaply.
$104k and reserve not met? Too much. That should be the bang the gavel price in order to account for work needed and depreciation incurred.
Ive seen cars totaled for seriously stupid reasons. If i recall superspeedersrob even talked about one 458 that gotham had that was in a minor collision that did a few thousand in damage and the insurance company totaled the car. Though you could be correct. I suppose a person could pay for an independent inspection of the car but then you would have to be pretty serious about buying the car to spring for the inspection. At the end of the day its too much for me to gamble that its really just minor damage. This car will probably wind up being parted out and not saved since i think that is where a majority of these end up.
Compared to the red one posted last week, this one looks like an easy fix !! It appears to be just cosmetic scratches !! At the right price (my guess anywhere between 20-25% off pristine example market price) this would be worth buying !! The red one, no more than 50% market value of pristine example and maybe up to 65% if you plan to tear it into parts !!
Who knows what you're going to find out underneath! Damage looks superficial and relatively easy to fix, but given the bottom of the front and rear bumpers are trashed, there could be a bunch more issues with suspension and underbody. Nice looking car...
Copart is super shady. I've seen cars that had a ton of damage show up again a few months later where someone clearly just slapped some panels back on it to make it look way better. I'd never buy a car there unless I had done a through inspection of it first.
No those third party sellers are super shady. If you actually buy cars Just buy cars that are straight from the insurance company's. you can go inspect cars in person nothing stops you
You can also pay for independant inspections. I like to look up images associated with the con number and a lot of times you can see when a car has been doctored up to look better then it really is. At the end of the day I think if you are experienced with purchasing at Copart you already know what your getting. If your joe average and are hopeing for an easy fix it’s probably not going to happen.
MAN I wish I was on your side of the pond! I would take a flight to that shady Copart dealer and do the inspection myself. This one actually seem like an ”easy fix”. I hope someone here buys it and share pics of the damages. Good luck to the lucky buyer!
Usually if its someone doctoring the car for quick flip its a simple vin search on the net will show you the original salvage auction it sold at with the original pics. its always buyer beware but that's why regular joes cant buy much on copart. you're either in the business or you're paying a broker some extra fees for the privilege of buying a car with unknown issues beyond the photos until you get it home. just think about this people are now buying tesla's from the insurance companies, removing the batteries and then reselling on copart. Aint that a *****.
Yeah I use Copart for cars that are already cheap and parts are plenty. Haven’t bought many or in a while. My oldest daughter needed a new minivan and I bought one the needed a fender and front bumper cover and fixed it for a few thousand with the parts painted. She’s about to need a new one as she’s put nearly 300k on the last one. But as I said before these exotics are a lot of money to gamble on for my blood especially when most are selling near the bottom end of cars that don’t have a branded title and likely need nearly as much to get them going. At least if you bought a clear title car that needed attention you would have a better chance of selling it down the road if you needed to. But I’ve seen and read where people can and do get that needle in the haystack and wind up with a really decent car so it can happen. I’ll continue to play cheaper safer bets with Copart, but that’s just me.
I’m wondering if the didn’t drive over something which would have at minimum drug along the underneath drivers area. If you look right in front of the drivers rear tire there appears to be more damage
out of curiosity I checked the vin, here are the images I found. Aperently when it was in this condition and was sold at auction it didn’t run and looked like this. So I’m guessing there is plenty else wrong with this car and it’s not as seems from the photos currently provided. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Holy crap that car is fugged up! Left rear suspension messed up and so is the back end (transaxle may even be involved?). All the nice grease pencil marks highlight the areas of damage....or are those just all the marks from the "ten foot poles" from the potential buyers?.... lololololol
Honestly the most concerning thing I see is the rear suspension and axel/transmission issues. The front and rear bumper covers are really of little concern. There is a possibility of engine and exaust damage too as well as other under carriage damage. For the buy it now price of 110k I personally am a little concerned about the condition lurking that I can’t see on this car. But according to the original auction for this car it didn’t run and drive so I wonder what has been fixed and what hasn’t. Still lots of what if’s for all that money.
I can't believe Co-Part can get away with doing this, with just the usual seller disclaimers. Taking a really messed up totaled car, and tarting them up to look like a quick fix, seems like totally fraudulent business practices. "Buyer Beware" should be posted all over their website.
I does say they are salvage cars ..that pretty much says it all. a salvage Ferrari will cost a lot more to fix and be worth a lot less then any other brand of car...imho
I don’t think it’s copart so much as salvage flippers which let’s face it happens a lot on Copart and IAAI. And it’s not just exotics either. I also tend to move along on anything that’s labeled enhanced because that simply means someone cosmetically made the vehicle more visually appealing.
