Either way Mercedes cars would have been out regardless the pit strategy. Blistering on the tires and reliability issues would have happened regardless.
Not to defend Toto but I think when saying "the world champions" (plural) he did not blame Lewis but the Mercedes Team, aka the strategy department and the pits....This is at least how I would read it....
So, a good day for the "home team" and for Ferrari, Haas and Sauber, and a bad day for Mercedes, Renault and McLaren. And, again, an enormous gap between the top three teams and everyone else. It would appear that the Ferrari is easier on its tires than Mercedes and Red Bull, and that perhaps Verstappen is easier on his tires than Ricciardo. Silverstone should be verrrrry interesting!
You could say that Ferrari power is better than Mercedes power, but that would be quoting some other idiot
Is there an opportunity to return everything to respective team headquarters or does the stuff get shipped straight to Silverstone?
I think all the pit stuff equipement and housing goes straight to Silverstone. HQ is probably shipping via truck new "parts" and updates for the car. That's my guess.
The cars themselves will go to the team HQs, as most of them are right there. But yeah, all the pit stuff would go straight to Silverstone.
Ok, I get it. You Ferrari guys don't like anyone stepping on Ferrari's tail. I'm totally understanding of that. This is, after all, FerrariChat.com, not, ReasonableFormulaOneDiscussions.com But don't you get it? When you jump up and down and scream at the three guys who want to discuss something other than Ferrari'a cars and drivers, it just stirs them up? Now, in this instance I find ktu's behavior in this thread troll-ish. I also see that several posts pointed at him violate the rules we laid out at the beginning of the season, and that's my dilemma. If I temp ban ktu, some of you other boys are gonna go with him. If I don't ban him, and instead warn him to knock off the trolling, LAST WARNING, then some will see this as favoritism. But that's what I'm gonna do. I would also warn that anyone who steps outside the rules to attack him will suffer the same fate. Let him post, if it's drivel and trolling, report it, I'll do the rest. But if you all respond to it in a way that violates the rules, well, the penalty box is gonna get crowded. KTU - first, last and only warning from me. Knock off the trolling. Post or counter post on the issues, not some nebulous anti-Ferrari crap that obviously riles up the guys here and is trolling. If you're curious and need help with this, PM me. Otherwise, next time you incite a riot, large or small, you're going out, for long enough that you'll not see the inside of FC until the F1 season is over. Dave
It should give him a boost. Makes you wonder where Vettel would have finished if not for that absurd penalty?
That was an awesome race. I was hoping Ham was going to have issues once Bottas was out. Also, wtf is going on with the big stars and graphics they're superimposing into the race? That stuff is so annoying...
Thanks Dave, I find him annoying and has gotten away with this for some time when others here just get banned for a month ( like me and Bas and Daytona355 ) I didn't think anyone could be as annoying as toil and a few other fanbois but this dude has done his level best to stir the pot ..... and you know I don't like stirring the pot As Ferrari owners and true tifosi we bag the team enough without the help of pro-Hamilton fanbois inciting a riot with their comments re Vettel (Christ, I don't like Vettel but he is a better choice than Hamilton if one of them HAS to drive a Ferrari ) Personally I'd like to see Dan and Leclerc driving for them with Kimi giving them instructions on how to talk to the media Anyway Dave, good luck modding this lot
John, I worked the Aussie gig for a while, and then P&R, followed by a stint with the Brits before they bailed en masse. This, bunch, by comparison, is a day at the beach. Omaha Beach. June 6, 1944. Dave
It truly was an entertaining race to watch.....for a change. While many have opinions on driver talent we all know that the strength of the car is the predominate factor in success. In that light look at Alonso.....coming from pit lane, discouraged from the beginning, but putting his concerns aside to give it his all to achieve an 8th place. That speaks volumes. Hats off!
I don't know, but I think Kimi was the better driver, no matter what the circumstances. If we can get Kimi 2005 at Britain, he will be unstoppable. None of the drivers today even come close to what Kimi and Alonso were then.
Probably now someone at FIA or Liberty is seriously considering it: "with the F1 truck support races the teams will be able to maximize the investment in transport, thus saving more money". Expect ultra expensive carbon fiber trucks.
Apparently Mario Isola said to Sky Italy that they consider bringing the special Pirelli tyres to more circuits after seeing how 6-teams (one of them are Mercedes) struggled with the tyres. If this is true this is blatant manipulation of the championship. 4 teams have a car that DOES use these tyres well, so they will be punished for that?
