I saw this pic of Simon’s car online, which clearly shows th lowered seat position vs a car that I test drove that had the typical seat position. It is considerably lower.

2.8 million views, 1000 pages, 12 years. Pretty amazing regardless of the subject and a significant thread on this site. Joe, you have done an amazing job starting, caring & feeding this along with the many other threads. Lamborghinichat would not be the same without you. Thank you!

Without the adjustment he would not be able to drive it at all, and as I say above, it comes at a price

My pleasure, thanks for the sentiments, and my thanks to all who provide positive useful information.

Forgot to mention two other LP400 that had evidence of driver fitment issues.

Firstly, here is 1120062 below, a pad has been used in place of the seat, this means the driver is not secured in a stable position as he operates the car, not something I would want.

Secondly, my 1120110 came with such a pad as I purchased it from a rather tall man, fortunately he kept the seat, which I re-installed, rendering it un-drivable for me, so it soon departed

All said, if you @ 6 feet or under you should be just fine, meanwhile both the aforementioned cars have had their standard seats restored.

They looked like chopped Countach seats, with the inserts in Miura style lateral pads.

May I please quote that priceless expression?

Thanks for all the great info. I started reading this thread probably 5-6 years ago and not knowing a thing. I still don't know much but I know way more than I would have otherwise.

Some slight differences in period Lamborghini literature! This is one of the beauties of this wonderful company.

From the Geneva press release in March 1973:
Still quoted as an LP500 or even LP500GT in the same document. With a 5l engine and 300 kph top speed.

From the LP400 second brochure, same numbers as the 1st brochure with the green car:
    4l engine - 315 kph top speed.

From an english press release in October 1973:
Picture of the LP500 - quoted as a 4l engine - 325 kph top speed.

    4l or 5l? - 300 - 315 - even 325 kph
    Who wants more?!
