1995 original valve guides (to my knowledge) no records of them ever being changed. 57000 kms. Changed to Tubi headers at 54000kms pulling of the still intact Original headers as a precaution only, no failure. Cats disintegrated (were OEM ceramic cores) recored with 200 cel metal cats, goth speed bypass valve too.

95 with original headers and guides. Burns no oil, and no leaks from headers. I believe that ringing the car up to 8500 on a regular basis leads to accelerated header failure, due to thermal cycling.

A bit off topic, but is this also an issue for a 348 ?

Headers replaced in August 2017 @ 39k miles with FabSpeed manifolds and blankets

We have no record of the valve guides having been replaced.

95 355 23000 miles. Stock everything. no record of valve guide replacement. Headers in good shape. Thinking of doing cat delete but just inspected cats and they are pristine.

    • 95 355, 42.5K mi
    • Guides replaced in 2008
    • Fabspeed headers and hyperflow cats 2008, 2011
    • I added gothspeed cv boot shields during 2017 major
    • Still unsure what exhaust I'm running, believe it or not. Assume stock. Will eventually replace with a Capristo – you know, "to be sure."

I believe you have a challenge exhaust, unless it was changed.

Wow, thanks for the reminder. That's the post that zeroed me in on it in the first place!

FWIW then, the challenge exhaust is pretty tame, dB wise. No idea what to expect of course and haven't heard a tubi or cap in person to have any basis for comparison. The actual sound is gorgeous - it's just not life threateningly loud.

Sure wish I'd taken more during the major when it was out and sitting right there.
