Even the factory side-skirts are not preferred by most, these just kill any prospect of a nice sale and I suspect the seller knows it.

    Correct.

Completely unnecessary on the road where the 99% of all Countachs are used.

I think Gerald Carrol actually had that on his first Downdraft Countach (which means the one before JLA12397), long since removed

Paul S sends me this pic of conveying his daughter to her wedding in his famed GLA12923, how cool is it to share these cars and make memories with family like that?

These are aftermarket side skirts. This car would have left the factory with a "round" body.

Can almost guarantee the round belly is under the aftermarket skirt (Need the round belly panel to attached the side skirt).
Then, what you will need to make it right is new rear flares, front and rear flare extensions. I'm sure the rear quarter panel would have to be repaired as well.
Not too big of a job, but all parts are available.

C'mon Walter, be positive, first proper date I had with my current wife was 28 years ago in a Countach Downdraft, I've still got a Countach (a different one) and am still with the girl (the same one) and the only thing I want to use the Countach for is to listen to the engine

Lamborghini started installing the side-skirts in the fall of 1987 after the summer shutdown, you see them appear in the production of the JLA-prefix chassis numbered cars @ September 1987 onwards.

These side-skirts have nothing to do with Lamborghini and as appendages only limit the car's appeal.

    Correct.

Speaking of side-skirts, darker colors minimizes the look that some do not care for, as seen here on Yves' Monaco-registered car

Personally I like all the different production differences, but I do get clients stating that they do not want the wing (always removable) and they do not want the side-skirts (you need an early 1985 to late 1987 car), different strokes for different folks, either way, it's nice to have just what you want but I think what matters most is the heart - the engine

Max Bobnar skirts, they invented those to have air for the intercoolers of this 5l Turbo. About a dozen Countachs have them.

Indeed they are falling by the wayside, I know one car that has had them removed recently, and in the same way that people are converting modified LP400 Periscopas back to pure original status, I bet someone will buy this car and make the removal of the skirts removal job number one.

    At that price I'm tempted.

Meanwhile what the skirt-less look does IMHO is it accentuates the spats and the wheel/tire sizes giving the car an beautifully aggressive sleeker look
