Well, it took five months of ownership before somebody side swiping my F430. I think her State Farm adjuster will be a bit shocked. Luckily we have one of the best body shops in the Midwest here in Kansas City.

    Taking to this shop tomorrow.

    Uuugghhh!

My guess is they will have to paint whole hood/bonnet and bumper, plus part of both doors to blend paint.

I think you can get away painting bumper and both fenders... The paint of the fenders will need to blend in with hood and door... A paint specialist should be able to do it

Don't forget to get something for diminished value.

Might be a good opportunity to upgrade to a Scuderia Front bumper

    You are KC local? Hello!
State Farm is VERY notorious for fighting diminish value to the very end.
Eveland's Brothers and Tanner's are both the best body shops in town - I am almost positive you will be contacting one of them.
What a bummer - hope it all works out!

Sorry about that. I know it nags at you but it is very minor and you won't be able to tell after it is fixed.

Can't blame them for that. They can't afford to set a precedence that could be claimed against some guys 20 year old Corolla.

Not necessarily. Ferrari sent my car to the Ferrari body shop and just painted my front bumper from normal wear and tear before I bought it. Can’t tell the difference, day or night in any paint discrepancy.

I am getting my front bumper taken off and repainted. Sand, repair, paint, clear $1000 from a major SF Bay Area shop. Seems like a great price.

Eveland Brothers here in KC will be fixing it. No need to replace bumper. These guys are really good and I am sure it will come out like new. $8000 repair estimate. Dropping off on Friday.

State Farm will generate a CarFax most likely. Yes, I will get an expert here in KC to do a lost value estimate. Up side, as an attorney with 22+ years as a litigator, I can get them to bend.

Carfax is usually driven by Police Reports or Body Shops. It's not the insurance that reports it.

I can imagine the $8k came from removing bumper (and grills in bumper), removing hood, inner fender wells, badges, possibly removing doors and removing lights and even possibly the rocker panels. Don't forget it looks as though the front wheel needed to be refinished or a new one purchased. Then re-glassing bumper, pulling dents in fender, sanding bumper, sanding entire front end minus hood, priming fenders, spraying color, then spraying entire front end and bumper with clear in order to make sure there are no blend lines, then re-assembly. I can see $8k easy as the F430 requires you paint (as in clear) the entire front end as there is no body line to paint to. In my opinion, I think this is why Ferrari designed the 458 like they did so you could break the front end up into smaller more manageable pieces unlike the 430.

Regardless, looks like they did a great job especially with silver paint which is normally harder to match (similar to white).

I can get there as well with the same rational, but that is far from the industry standard that most insurance companies and sub-par repair shops use.

Jay - that's why it's important to use an authorized Ferrari body shop. I'll tell you a story when I see you next - if will make this look cheap ;)

Sounds good, chill the beer, the blue car is warming up and ill be on my way over :). I'm just wondering how State farm feels about paying a premium for a premium repair when they probably have a collision shop they work with that would have done a quick sub-par blend job on the two panels with some nason base/clear and a quick wheel repair for $2500?

I had a much smaller fender issue than that when a trash can struck the right front fender. Repair was great. Mistake was her insurance took care of the incident. On resale it cost me $25,000.00 as listed as a Car Fax Claim.
