Hi guys! I have a intermediate problem with one of the banks not starting for several seconds when cold. Could be as much as 5-6 second. I have no idea if it's right or left bank. Happens about 1 of 4 cold starts. Any experience with this?

    Not had that.

Do you get rpm on the dial as this can indicate left or right.

Any warning lights when it’s running on one side?

Rpm is shown on dial. No warning lights are abnormal. Both banks turn off their check lights at the same time...

What indications are telling you that one bank is not starting?

It runs at 500 -600 rpm. Then it suddenly wakes up and revs at 1500 rpm in a snap, and everything is normal. The fault doesn't last long enough to do anything in the engine bay , or even to get out of the car..

A "bank problem"? Or a fuel delivery problem?

I know there's a simple test. But it's late and I'm drawing a blank. Other than having a second person watching for current flow using two clamp meters. One on each coil wire.

I would first check the fuel pump and injectors relays (4 in total). Pull them out and inspect and clean their pins and inspect the condition of the female pins in the sockets. If the sockets seem good, push the relays in and out a few times to clear any corrosion. Another thing to check is what relays you have for the fuel pumps and injectors - they are different from other standard relays on the panel. These four relays should be Bosch 0 332 014 140 and they are so called "low pull-in relays" - able to engage at lower voltages than the standard relays. Using an incorrect (i.e. standard) relays for fuel pumps or injectors may cause delay to their engagement and the problem you are having.

Another important thing regarding the fuel pumps - if the car is not used for a longer period of time and the fuel level in the tank is low (~1/4), the fuel pumps tend to get "sticky" which can cause their delayed start. It is better to always keep higher fuel levels in the tank, especially before a prolonged sitting.
