So 2 scenarios for race day: 1.) Vettel and Kimi jump Lewis at the start into T1 or 2.) Both Vettel and Kimi stay tucked behind Lewis and pressure that W09 to eat its tires.
Seriously fast pace from the Ferrari's. Hamilton is just incredible in qualifying, we are witnessing history as he continues to add to the all time pole record.
We have the Pirelli specials this weekend (and possibly more) but Ferrari was able to make technical changes to the car which made it look a lot better than it did in Spain with the MB spec pirellis. Nice to see Ferrari engineers adapt to the tires, something MB clearly weren't able to do.
The FIA have confirmed that Toro Rosso have elected to build a brand new car with a different chassis. The car will have to be scrutineered tomorrow morning before being passed off to race. FIA: The Stewards have received a request from Williams Martini Racing to allow car 18 to start the race despite failing to set a time in qualifying. He has been granted permission to race tomorrow. FIA - NO FURTHER ACTION after Car 35 [Sirotkin] did not enter the Pit Lane and continued on track during a Red Flag Signal.
Seb nearly gets pole with major neck issues and the Mercedes special tires, very impressive. Hoping for a Ferrari 1-2 tomorrow!
Let's hope so. I could see it being a realistic potential. Bottas doesn't seem to be on the pace so much, the Ferraris were quicker (although not be much) in long runs yesterday, and even though these are Mercedes tires, the Ferrari seems gentler on them. Hopefully Hamilton gets passed by both Ferraris on turn one, Vettel lets Kimi through, and he finally gets a race win
Just shows that a motivated team, with good management, and no big expensive names can make a winner. All vettel needs to do is keep Lewis behind him. Might not be easy. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
??? Which team are you referring to? Also, Vettel needs to get in front of Lewis before he can keep him behind
https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/137272/verstappen-feels-like-red-bull-missing-7080bhp Max Verstappen says it feels like Red Bull is missing 70-80 horsepower in Formula 1 at the moment, which is costing it one second per lap at Silverstone this weekend. Red Bull's two cars qualified a distant fifth and sixth for the British Grand Prix, with Verstappen 0.7 seconds adrift of Lewis Hamilton's pole time and Daniel Ricciardo 1.2s off the pace after suffering a DRS problem. "If you miss 70-80bhp you know you're going to struggle," Verstappen said after qualifying. "Also with the cars we have [since the 2017 regulation changes] a few corners became flat-out so it gets more and more difficult. "A big problem as well is when you go through a corner that's almost flat and when you accelerate out of the corner our engine is just not pulling. "You know you just don't have the horsepower. And when the corners are flat, when you start scrubbing speed because of steering, we lose even more. "If you lose more than a second on the straights you know it's going to be a difficult weekend but actually I was quite happy with how the car was performing - I don't have anything to complain about.
How the hell can ESPN have such inconsistent programming. It’s Silverstone!!! Practice but no qually ??? Give me a break. I’m so pissed.
They had Qualifying on at 8:55am here in NY on Channel 216 (ESPNews). They are very inconsistent on which one of the multiple channels they air F1 programming. The race is on Ch. 36 (regular ESPN) tomorrow.
Happens all the time. I always set my DVR to record whatever ESPN program is scheduled to follow any given Formula One show airing on any of the various ESPN channels. That way, nothing will be missed.
This week, because of the track temps being so wacky from normal, I think Hamilton will fade because of tire issues. A lot depends on the start. Let's face it -- Hamilton took pole today because he owns this track. Bottas has never been as comfortable in the same car. Congrats to HAAS! This team is becoming solid. With luck they can have podiums. McLaren and Williams -- how the mighty have fallen.
Williams? Getting their aero wrong? Impossible! https://racer.com/2018/07/07/williams-could-start-from-pit-lane-after-surprise-aero-issue/
If Vettel has neck problem, he is going to suffer badly at Silverstone with the high speed corners and enormous G forces.
Whew, late to the show, just finished watching qualy, hamilton squeezed that one out. very well-earned! I predict tomorrow will be an easy win for Mercedes. I hope Kimi takes the fight to Vettel...
Vettel feeling a touch confident! Vettel: Ferrari are faster than Merc Sebastian Vettel remains confident of beating Lewis Hamilton to victory at the British GP and believes Ferrari have the faster race car. http://www.skysports.com/f1/news/12433/11429416/sebastian-vettel-confident-of-british-gp-win-in-improving-ferrari
Could not believe the interview with Stroll. Along the lines of “I’ve had that problem at that corner all weekend...blah blah”. Nothing about what he has done differently to try and address the issue, nothing about the communication with the team to address the issue, just ..... nothing!!!! So if you’ve had that problem why didn’t you do something about it? Ie car set up and or your driving??? If it’s the drs and aero why not try shutting the drs slightly earlier so you can Re attach thecsir flow??? But slower on track, but at least your still on track!!! Very poorly articulated young man. Mr Monger is so so more mature and articulate. Stroll just comes across as s spoilt brat. I like to support Williams and as a Canadian I’d love to see a Canadian race, but my god this guy.... I despare.
