    Valentino Balboni and Pierluigi Mori, who simply says in the clip that he 'submitted his curriculum', both worked for Lamborghini for quite some time before they became test drivers. Judging from Valentino's account I doubt that the appointment process was especially formal...

    This design was proposed by Piero Stroppa, self taught stylist and first assistant initially to Giorgetto Guigaro, and later to Marcello Gandini at Bertone. He also proposed the Miura monogram which was chosen personally by Ferruccio Lamborghini.

    Instead of eyelashes, it has eyelids... Was that because, being an SV prototype, the new headlight design was not yet finalised, or was there some other reason?

    Yes agreed, he has said on film that one day this boss simply had enough of him moving cars around and said "hey, you wanna be a test driver? Let's see what you got" or words to that effect

    Thank you for clarifying this, Stroppa's work is fabulous!

    Good observation, actually, we've determined that the first dozen or so SVs received this type of headlamp surround treatment, I think it was the intended design for the SV but proved to be too complicated for production, so it was simplified in favor of what you see on the lovely 4904 below.

    They just celebrated his 50th anniversary, which would make 1968 correct. I believe the factory was involved in this.

    BTW, on a brighter note I for one think the ownership landscape in Lamborghiniland is slowly changing, and we are getting more & more new thoughtful and appreciative owners who are committing to the cars, as this happens, values goes up.

    Back on topic, a Miura at the Le Mans Classic, now that's camping!

    Must have been in Germany as Lufthansa operated their cargo flights in the 1970s only from Frankfurt Int. Airport.

    Makes sense, I once owned a Countach that must have set the speed record from Bologna to Frankfurt ;) trying to make their LAX-bound flight, what a ride that must have been.
