Now the fun begins. Start undoing all connections and vacuum lines. Disconnect vacuum lines at motor and then put aside. There are 3 little ones and one big one on my car. The big one to feed vacuum to brake booster???? I’m not sure. There is a 10mm clamp that holds the two vacuum lines under passenger side distributor on the exhaust cam seal. It is held in place by a 10mm nut

Next on the driver side exhaust cam seal is a vacuum booster. Disconnect hose to that and pull away. As soon as I disconnected I heard a swoosh so I know it is holding vacuum but what was weird is a little oil cane out of hose. Is this normal??? Maybe one of you guys can tell me

With oil vapor hose out of the way you have to disconnect air cooler hose for alternator. Undo the clamp and remove air hose out of the way.

Here is where things might be different cause of my setup. On the driver side intake the last bolt there are a couple grounds that are hooked up. It’s a 13mm I do that and remove ground wires

Next up I have to remove air cleaner and housing roger to starter. You don’t really have to but it makes life easier. The top is held by 4 blade screws. The 3 are easy but the fourth one is under the vapor hose that is attached to rear of air intake housing. Remove that hose it’s a little bit of a pain but then you can get to the 4th screw. Also undo the 2 clamps that go to the throttle bodies.

Now remove the 13mm nut that holds the positive wire at starter. Take out cable and fish out towards passenger side rear quarter panel.

Next up I undid the ac connections. Before ameveryone cries foul that I’m polluting the ozone my car hasn’t had Freon in it for a while. Top hose is 1 1/16 and lower is 23mm

With air cleaner out of the way it’s essy to disconnect accelerator cable. Take cotter pin out of gas pedal line. Then unscrew center just enough to pry off. I drppped screw and had to look for it So just loosen enough to pry off ball

Use vice grips to hold cable while unloosening the 8mm hold bolt. Then unscrew the holder that attaches to the ball on throttle plates. Fish out the cable and put aside. Mine went through in between alternator and bracket. Just a reminder for later

And this is where I stopped for the day. Because of custom made wire harness to feed efi I have to take off upper intake runners and fuel distributors. Couldn’t they make a quick disconnect for this. Uugh. Life would have been much easier. So tomorrow I’ll get into that and take photos as well even though in regular tr this doesn’t need to be done

When I get home later I will. I have to change plugs in that next. Car is running a bit rich and they fouled up causing a small miss. But after this service I’ll do that. And searching I found best plugs for 355 are ngk Zmr7ap. Right now I have iridiums in there don’t know which ones off hand but car is a 95 without cats.

Success. I got motor out. So because my car has a custom wiring harness I had to remove intake manifold. I will include it here but it’s definitely not necessary for taking motor out. On regular cars I believe there is just the disconnect from battery under car and a 9 pin connector at rear by coolant tank.
