I always thought these prototypes sound very very similar when hustled to the redline and shifted. If you’ve shifted a cgt at full bark basically this is how fast you need to change gears.

Kinda seems like this is the heritage they were going for in the street car CGT?? But these cars don’t have tech, crap forgot. They aren’t Porsche’s.

Between the NACA ducts, shift know, engine ect they all come from these old plastic cars. Look at the intake covers on that engine!! Seems similar to how a CGT engine looks in that respect?

Maybe I’m off and your right. It’s just a cool car, stillborn with no identity...... But I highly doubt it!

I was pleased to see the final film as well, Jerry appeared relaxed in it and drove it very well, in fact he commented that it was the nicest car (including all of his) that he has ever had on the show, high praise from him.

We thought we had it spoken for recently, but this beauty is available

Don't get caught by all the BS Andial posts. He is an immature kid who has been steering the pot at other forums as well. I guess he gets a kick out of it. BTW, someone had posted an article on Rennlist about the CGT engine that basically said that it was originally an F1 engine.

FWIW, after test driving a 918 extensively, I went ahead and bought a 2nd CGT.

Interesting wheel design, painted in the inverse areas to the production exterior-painted wheel option.

Because it's less like a Volkswagen means it's less like a Porsche? Stuff evolves. I'd still take one ...

As a lifelong F-car guy, I was never interested in - nor lusted for - ANY Porsche. That ended with the introduction of the Carrera GT, a car I'd do anything to get my hands on.

Seriously, I know the person who manages the 918 facebook group. I doubt he would make a comment like that. This is more BS.

Just to let you know the 918 has a pretty significant racing heritage. The V8 engine came out of a successful RS Spyder racing program, won its class in LMP2 in 2006,2007,2008 and won Lemans class in 2008. In addition, the energy recovery systems are some of the same used in the 919 program. So I disagree with your statement.

That's good info, the 959 also got a version of the Le Mans-winning 956 / 962 engine. I guess Porsche knows a thing or two about racing and applying race technology to its supercars!

    Anyway, back to CGT content!

Agreed on both the 918 and 959 re engines. They have fantastic pedigree in that sense.

The point was the 918 is not a 919.

    The 959 was not a 962.

I still argue the CGT is as close to the race cars as they ever got for the street cars.

But the engines I will agree with you on. The 918 engine is probably the greatest V8 for the street and somehow that gets totally lost. Imagine a lighter CGT with just that engine and a stick?

I agree the CGT with the light weight V8 and a stick would be incredible...but it sure wouldn't sound the same!

Yes. He doesn't advertise on Facebook for them and doesn't think the CGT is the original pure 918. The GT1 are Porsches despite their price.

    No.
Check out his posts on RL or PM him. This isn't more BS.
I was banned for 20 days because Rennlist has archaic rules, unlike FerrariChat. All I did was share the previous address of a user who I have mutual friends w/ and disclose the price another user paid for their house. I haven't found a new sandbox to poop in. I do believe you are referring to me.

I think it's special because all one-off color cars are.

That said, did Porsche Ag bestow the 0911 production plaque upon this car for a special reason, or does it happen to coincidentally be the 911th CGT built?

The production plaque number on the center console could be specially requested by VIP customers. Seinfeld's Black '04 was #0356, and there was apparently a Middle East customer who had the very last plaque number as well. Initially Porsche let anybody request their number, but eventually this became too much of a potential issue with customers and was stopped. As a result of this number choosing, the center console numbers are only loosely tied to production order.

I believe this Signal Yellow car was originally ordered & owned by (corrected: Mike Valentine).

Disclaimer, I am going off memory here and will need to confirm later on a few details.

An interesting aside, the lowest USA Model Year 2005 center console number I've seen is #0479. Can anyone confirm a lower number for an '05? Who has the highest MY '04 number? I'm curious to see where the cutoff was, although I doubt it would be a rigid cutoff given the way the numbers were assigned.
