    ...only in the USA!
    In Europe you have a different fueling system/pump system.

    apparently the dry break system failed.

    I used to live about a mile from that gas station. it was significantly renovated in the last couple of years, wonder if there was some shoddy workmanship on the pump installation.

    Doesn’t make sense as the pumps have a break away system that prevents fumes/gas escaping in the event of the pump being detached from the central unit...

    I had a gas pump handle start spewing gas as soon as I pulled it out of the pump station once and that was in California.

    This sounds like very faulty equipment and at a minimum a failure of the break-away.

    Just a small splash could start such a fire.

    Just terrible. Kid was probably stoned.
