Image Unavailable, Please Login After 2 long years in Modena, the nut and bold restoration of 10949, the David Bailey / Catherine Deneuve 4 cam is finished. Just going to the classiche dept at the factory today to update the pictures for the certification which was given years ago.
Excellent Mark! Will be in Modena/Maranello next week so probably be able to catch a glimpse of the car. Gr. Martin
Do we know which one Vettel rode in on the parade Sunday in Hockenheim? Presumably a cut car, Zurich plates...copyright indicated. Thanks in advance. At least his ride in that one did not end in the kitty litter and wall... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Chassis number 09747. A NART Spider CONVERSION done by Carrozzeria Egidio Brandoli in Montale/Italy decades ago. Owned since more than 25 years by a Swiss collector resident near Zurich, Switzerland. Driven in Hockenheim by the Swiss owner's wife. This car was originally a 275 GTB/4 Berlinetta painted Argento 106-E-1 and delivered new by Motor S.p.A. di Carla Allegretti e C., in Bologna. 1970 exported to USA where it was very badly crashed and overturned, driver was killed. The wreck was then in a junkyard in Minneapolis and later sold to Chicago where it was parted out and certain parts used for another fourcam (#10991). The original engine 09747 only was for sale in Concord/MA in December 1975. Marcel Massini
One scratches their head why the factory let's Vettel being driven in a conversion………. Not the first time, in 2016 Vettel was chauffeured at least twice in a replica Ferrari (F1 GP of Belgium and Japan). Marcel Massini
Yes I remember, but I don't think they pay any attention to what drivers are paraded in, sometimes it is unexpected: see Grosjean at Sepang Anyway back on topic. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Did the original engine 09747 actually get sold and separated from the car and if so is the engine number in the car known?
This is myself and 9747 in Chicago in 1974. "The owner gave me the keys and said to "stand on it", so I did"!!!! The car was very badly crashed. The driver was ejected from the car through the floorboards under the pedals. I am amazed this car was resurrected. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow that is quite extreme in terms of damage: I have seen such damage after track accidents such as a 275 that had a huge rear end crash at the Nurburgring -photos of which were posted in here somewhere- but on the road...he must have been really pushing, clearly a high speed disaster. Talk about going out in a blaze of glory...RIP
Christian: I do not recall the details of the accident. I believe it occurred in Minnesota, as my friend bought the car from a scrap yard in Minneapolis as I recall. Probably he lost control at very high speed. I doubt that something broke.
