Coding on how something is recorded and played back for television. US uses NTSC, of course someone selling / buying a stolen item would probably not realize this anyway.

Well, I knew NTSC, so PAL is a different format. Got it.

PAL is the video encoding system used in Europe versus NTSC used in North America. The two systems are not generally compatible.

Oooops, I didn't scroll past your question to see jkddad already answered it

PAL is the Euoropean and Middle Eastern video system, while North America is NTSC. A PAL VHS tape or DVD cannot be viewed on a north american VCR or DVD player, and vice versa.

    Also found this:

There are two television display systems in commercial use: PAL(common in Europe and parts of Asia) delivers a frame rate of 25 fps (frames per second) with 625 lines, while NTSC(used in the U.S. and Canada) delivers a frame rate of 30 fps using 525 lines

I had my 458 out today to run some errands. Stopped for lunch and noticed a few employees stepped out to take a look.

When they returned not realizing I was the owner, I overheard a classic:

“You couldn’t pay me to own that car. You can’t drive them anywhere. Completely useless around here.”

Seems we have quite the puzzling paradox there. How did my 458 get to the restaurant without being driven? Confounding indeed. Afterwards I left to head to my office, a marina, and a few other places to get some stuff done. Drove it to all those places. What was I thinking? I must be crazy!

    You can't fix stupidity.

What they actually meant was "You couldn't pay me to own that car because I'm too dumb to own one"

I think what they meant was "I will never be able to afford a car like that so I'm going to make some Bs excuse to my friends about how it would suck to have one." :)

Lucky for them, they're probably in absolutely no danger of that horrible burden.

Especially since I also learned from the same people that it costs over $750K to get one. They had a lot of useful information I had somehow missed. :D

Driving home my new 488 GTB on Monday from the dealer. I am so excited, I finally got it.

A guy in a pick up truck motions to me to roll down my window and he says: "hey why did you put that fake engine in the trunk of that car under glass, we all know the real engine is up front, your not fooling anyone!" So i just nodded and pulled away when the light turned green...priceless first Ferrari ownership day.

That's hard to guess if they were just playing or serious.
    Congratulations on the car :)

Came across 3 teenage boys on bikes getting out of my F430. The first kid asks "Is that a Ferrari", the second asks "How much?" I always tell people to google it.
The 3rd kid asked "What do you do?". Him I answered.

I was driving my car today in traffic. A millennial in a Subaru with turquoise rims pulls up next to me while going down the street. "Wow! What kind of car is that?" He yells. "A Ferrari Testarossa!" I yell back. We separate in the traffic and about 30 seconds later he and I meet up again and he yells out "A Tesla-what???"

    Kids...

Misconceptions of older Ferrari’s and the media play a part in this too.
