Just read the Pininfarina press release:

It makes more sense for me in that context.

Those headlights set so far back on the front fenders remind me of Buick "Portholes" as does the front grill treatment. Unfortunate coincidence?

Funny story about those Buick portholes. I was the Exterior Chief Designer for the 2006 Buick Lucerne, and I wanted to do a contemporary version of Buick's historical portholes from the '50's. However, the only way I was willing to do them was if they were functional, with actual holes stamped into the fenders. No phony portholes for this 'sailor'! We went around and around with the manufacturing guys to get them to agree; either functional portholes.........or nothing! We managed to convince everyone they had to be functional. They finally agreed after all my whining.

They never did actual holes after that program.
Fake ones these days.


The V8 cars had 4 per side, the V6 cars had 3 per side. Imagine that.

My Grandfather, and Dad had Buicks (no apostrophe)...

The '53 Special and Super had 3 and the Roadmaster V8 had 4.
They were fake.

 

I love it. I want to see more of this on the road. Fun and irreverent.
