    Mr. Bandini,

As you are someone who repeatedly has told the rest of the forum exactly what is acceptable and what is not...I suggest you read some of your old posts and look in the mirror. Either walk the righteous path that you espouse...or move on as you have suggested. The thinly veiled condescension is tiring.

    Thank you.

My wife, who does not like Formula 1 particularly and pays no attention to drivers, etc., saw Hamilton at Wimbledon and noted, without prompting from me, that he looks like a cross between Prince and MC-Hammer

Can someone tell me why FERRARI fans are concerned with what Lewis does on his own time? Is Lewis not a grown man? Can he not go where he wants? If Lewis told some of you that you should'nt have went fishing the other day that would sound crazy right? Can someone tell me what Vettel did last weekend?

It's the stark contrast between words and deeds:

"I'd do anything for my fans, I don't want to let them down..."

"The British fans are the best fans, I couldn't have won this race without you..."

"I gave it my all for you, I held nothing back."

    "I see you out there!"

Then when the most popular British motoring enthusiast event is held at Goodwood, is it the 4x World Champion that demonstrates the Mercedes to the fans that mean so much to him and carry him to new heights of excellence? Nope. It's Bottas. The one the British fans really want to see is off attending Wimbledon.

There's nothing wrong with a driver enjoying some leisure time away from F1, but if the British fans really were as important to him as he says, then he wouldn't have missed the opportunity to demonstrate the car for them. It's not just the Festival of Speed that he skipped out on, back when he was driving for McLaren, Jenson Button (a genuinely nice guy) demonstrated the car in Manchester without Hamilton (I was there), and when F1 as a whole sport ran a demonstration in London in 2017, the only driver not to attend was Lewis Hamilton - he flew to Greece for a holiday. Defending such absences, he points out that he has the largest social media following of any driver. So his fans are worth a few Tweets, some photos of him standing on top of his private jet, and to be told how they're the best fans at a race, but not a personal appearance at any other time?

Maybe it's just an unfortunate impression he projects, but the message I receive is that his time is far too precious to waste on fans away from a points-scoring race weekend. That might be true for a few drivers, but then they don't go on about how much they fight on track for the fans. It's the insincerity that gets people's backs up. Do you see where we're coming from?

    All the best,
    Andrew.

You don't get it... Goodwood is behind the GP the biggest Motorsport event in the UK...it is important enough that all the manufacturers built temporary 2- story houses on the ground to present their new cars. It is important enough for Mercedes GP to bring three cars and a current driver, not to mention the museum to bring a dozen of classics... this is exactly the fan base of Lewis he is always talking about but yet he is not in the mood to show up, they bring Bottas instead.
I do not care what he does in his weekend, I even preferred him not to show up because people go crazy then...
BUT: then he should not always say how important his fans are as everything else seems to be more important to him in reality. Nobody expects Kimi to show up because everybody knows how he feels about it...but Sebs fans would certainly expect him to show up when Ferrari racing days are in Germany.
But just with the London PR event Lewis' fans don't seem to understand it, they still defend him over that, just look at yourself...

Ham fans go to his races to watch him race, not Goodwood. Micheal Schumacher never attended Goodwood when he was with Ferrari. Does he deserve the same criticism? Were there any other F1 drivers there other than Bottas?

Pete, saw the Goodwood Festival live via youtube streamed it. Alot of former F1 drivers were there including VB77 for Mercedes who drove the W07 up the hill. He did some burnouts and donuts. The whole event was awesome. I know you were there.

He has done Goodwood in the past, and it was great for his fans. I don't care if he is at Goodwood or not, i want to see him race. You want him to go every year? why uphold him to that standard instead of all other F1 drivers?
