He did make driver errors he has made a mistake on the start that cost him 1st and 2nd at British gp And that landed him A collision with Kimi. He destroyed his Qualifying of which it's leaning towards him destroying his steering rather than mechical. Though that latter was totally saved by Rain in the race.

Just watched footage and radio on the pit avoidance and LH knew he was wrong even asked “are we in trouble” also said “I was at the pit entry”. So if they don’t penalize him it is just ridiculous

I would suggest give them a good old meeting to discuss better tactics. I mean their British gp performance was flawless so they have the capability to do well.

What does Mercedes have on everybody in racing? How many pictures of people in compromising positions can they have to keep pulling rabbits out of there *sses

Now the stewards are bowing to political pressure. I hate this aspect of what F1 has become.

This is race fixing of the highest order. These penalties to their rivals, and no penalties to themselves is ridiculous.

They couldn't handle Ferrari having a good engine so they stuck extra monitoring on the car because Mercedes said so. Nothing was found so now they play the media ''oh it's so strange they found this power all of a sudden'', insinuating Ferrari is cheating.

    A sad team. Ruining F1.

    FIA confirms just a reprimand.

FIA reasoning: (i) the driver and the team candidly admitted the mistake and the fact that there was confusion within the team as to whether to stay out or to enter the pits and that led to the infringement. (ii) The fact that the infringement took place during a Safety Car (iii) At no time was there any danger to any other competitor and the change in direction was executed in a safe way.

Actually add Lauda to the list also as he basically didn't even try to complete one wet race. If Vet was embrassing by crashing then Lauda just not even trying to finish one must of been much worse. And it was a title battle like this one.

Ironic that because of conditions that lead to a safety car a rule that is in place for the safety of all racing regardless of conditions can be used to defend an infraction of safety..... oh I get it, it was Lewis Hamilton, silly me!

Not surprised. Rules are different for hammy and mb. Ferrari need to fight FIA, MB and RB.

iii was just sheer luck ...i and ii maybe ok though.

However i can understand the feeling that the FIA needs to change its name to

I mean Mercedes must be thankful that the gods of weather answered to their prays. Cause if it were still dry guantee Vet would of not gotten that off. He would of finished and won. We had the total advantage just unlucky unforseen circumstances happened that cost the team.

I just hope that this leniency will be applied fairly, to all, in the future.

    Bring on Hungary.

(ii) so, when a driver (Sainz) passes a fellow competitor during a yellow flag period...and candidly admits the error on the radio...can he have his 5 seconds back?

(iii) did Lewis actually check his mirrors and make the change of direction in a safe manner...? didn't look so to me...he's lucky someone wasn't there in the racing line when he made that correction...yellow flag speed or not.

    What a farce...

Team confusion is a valid excuse?

He crossed wet grass on slicks to enter onto a straight and that is safe?

Sooooo, you did it, you know you did it, the team knows you did it, the stewards know you did it, you can’t say that not pitting gained at advantage as it gave you track position, but no worries mate, we can all celebrate together!

Hmmm... not sure I accept the team's confusion as a valid reason to exonerate them. Sigh.

    All the best,
    Andrew.
