What to replace a 365 GT4 2+2 with?

Hi All,

I've got another 365 GT4 2+2 which I've owned for sometime now. It was used regularly as a fun, short distance car but I'm now thinking about making a change.

If I was to sell the 365 what would I replace it with? It doesn't need 4 seats, doesn't need to be a Ferrari but I like the rarity value in a 365. The noise is quite important to me. I'd like to replace it with a car of equal value but don't mind putting another 10k on top.

Any suggestions?

I think the 365 GT4 is a fairly unique car. What are you looking for? Open air car? More performance? Less money to maintain?
When or if I sell my 365 it will be because I will want a different type of car.

Jim, I’m not sure what I need from it. I’ve got a Porsche Turbo Cabriolet for open top driving, a Lambo for drama and a Porsche GT3 for blasting around in. I’ve also had a 2x 355, a 360 Modena and Spider, 430 Spider and various other bits but none of them seem to have stuck around. I guess I’d like a V12 carb 2 seater but something that looks more wild/Supercar like. I briefly looked for a white Ferrari Testarossa but the prices seem to be a bit insane for what the car offers.

 

Some interesting and unique / cool looking Lambos in early to mid 70s.

 

If you want a carby V12 2 seater, the next one will be double the price of the 365, maybe 3 times the price

Newer Ferrari’s could be a 550, 575, 599, or 456

Older Ferrari’s, like Ferraridoc said, will be alot more than any of the options above.

 

When you see some of those prices it makes no sense why or cars are so inexpensive.

I see Petrolicious just did a film on an Espada and Islero (which is much more expensive).

 

I think it would be best to just keep the car long term as the alternatives cost significantly more and offer a very similar experience. I still may look to add a white Testarossa to the fleet.

 

I have a 412 manual 5 speed which I love. Had a 550 for 4 years , sold it and tried Maserati for the first time, a 4200 GT spyder with a manual 6 speed. You might consider a 4200 Spyder or Coupe - add a Larini exhaust and you'll be intoxicated with the noise! Huge amount of fun and performance for relatively little money. Ferrari engine, hand built, and imo timeless shape. I really like it.

 

I've had a Maserati 3200 GT and a Gransport(with secondary decat and X-Pipe). Great noise but it offered little else to me.

 

Apparently there is quite a gap from the 3200 to the 4200.

 

There is a huge difference between the two.

The Gransport is essentially is revised 4200, I agree there is a big difference between a 3200 and 4200 but I just did not get on with them.

What you need is a Lotus Super 7 or Caterham. Not a V12 but ticks all the other boxes for me. You need to be selfish and helps to be masochistic though.

 

That’s going to be tough to do.

Would the Jaguar E-type V12 be a possibility?

 

Especially in Tasmania!

 

The Jaguar E-Type is a good shout. A friend owns a Semi-Lightweight which I've always liked but it isn't a cheap car. I'll do some further digging.
