Mine would have been, "I had a wife once. I'd rather have the car."

Lol. She was with him. She wasn't too bad actually, if I was single I likely would have joked back that he's got himself a deal :)

Haha! Hey now... not all millennials. This millennial and his millennial wife just picked up their 2nd F-car this weekend, after spending 2 months personally preparing and showing a 1994 348 Spider to a 3rd in class at concours.

Some of us who managed to move out of our Boomer parents' houses actually live and breathe these cars. :D

What color was the 458? ;)

A bunch of kids in the French countryside went ballistic when I drove this past weekend to a friends castle for 3 days of grilling and sitting around in the sun. My friend told me it looked like they had just seen the face of god :p

LOL. I was driving my Ferrari one hot summer night near a popular nightclub and this guy was crossing the street with a super hot girl in each arm and I said to him I'll trade ya. They all laughed their ass off.

I was gassing up the other day. A nice young man, Josh, asks if he can take some pics. I said, sure, no problem. As he's checking out the Cali, he says "Dang, I thought only rappers drove Ferraris!". I said "How do you know I'm not a rapper?" The look on his face was priceless....T

This just happened to me again. A person ASKS me if they can take a picture of the car. I'm out in public, I have zero right or expectation of privacy, snap away. However, I do appreciate how respectful people are. I'll usually offer to take a pic of them with the car.

I too am always amazed by people "asking permission" to take a picture of a car in a public space. I usually appreciate their respect so much I nearly always offer for them to sit in it.
I'd even offer rides if we weren't such a litigious society...thank you, all you skank lawyers.

I agree with you and Paul that it's odd, but like you, I am grateful they are polite and ask.

Better than someone sprawled over the hood of a Scud, like I saw from afar and yelled at the offender, it was not my car but at least with you they ask !

Same for me. Young kid (10 - 12) with his dad asked if it was ok to photo the car. I said "hop in to driver seat and let your dad take the photo" he did and both him and dad were thrilled.

A millennial tree hugger walks over to check out my 360 spider while I was gassing up at Costco. He looks at the rear engine and said, "I bet this car drinks like a fish". I reply, "Not bad, I can do 180 all day long and still gets about 50 miles per gallon just like your Honda hybrid. There's an electric motor in the front." He paused for a moment and said, "Really?" as he starts walking away with a perplexed look on his face.

    HAHAHAHAHA!!! Hilarious!

Congrats on the new car, welcome to the club.

My gas station of preference is, well, out in the country. They have 90 octane ethanol free. A fill up and some octane boost and the 348 is very happy.

I usually get "Hey, the magnum car!!" (I don't even argue this point), because Ferrari targa = magnum car.

The most recent trip was "You don't see those too often anymore, what year is it?" we talked for a minute, he says "Congrats on doing well for yourself" I smiled and thanked him.

Other guy was "Hey! Magnum car!" LOL! He asked about what year, and damn it looks great for 28 years old, and "can i ask how much it cost?" When I told him, he's like "OMFG!!! I just paid 32k for a Golf GTi!" I get in, he's still filling his pickup... "Rev it!!!" Oh jeez..."let me get out on the road first". So i exit, and head back up the road winding it out and hearing the exhaust echo off the trees... I hope it made his night, it made mine. What a machine!

I'm more distracted trying to figure out the math of a boomer having a millennial.

'Millennials' were born from about 1980-1995. Most of us are in our 30's now. My parents are boomers, granted late boomers, but still boomers.

Perhaps you're thinking of the younger generation after us? They're 'Gen-Z'. Those are the kids of Gen Xers and early millennials. Generations got weird after 1980. Mostly due to the quick advances in technology making the divisions more stark more quickly .

odd...I never associated Gen Y with being millennials... I'm at the tail end of X.
