On prime day i bought a cheesy inspection camera for like $12 bux. I had a few minutes of fun with my kids looking in ears and noses, and so we began look for other items.
I had a capristo sitting on my bedroom floor, lets find it out what its secrets are. Turns out its pretty simple

this capristo is the twin sound.. with straight piped dual bypass valves, that do not pass through the muffler, as with the usual single bypass inlet.

which I almost considered buying, but looks like Ken picked it up..

When I looked in mine it -appeared- to be T'd into a straight pipe leading to the the tips, separated from the main section and unmuffled (no perforations)

    Twin sound, correct.

Thats pretty interesting. I've read many people criticize the TS for losing the howl/scream compared to regular capristo. Looking at the design, I assumed that was simply due to the loudness straight pipes over the muffler. But if the regular capristo bypass is also straight piped, then I dont know.

I scoped out my current "challenge" exhaust and its basically identical to the capristo, with the exception of the bypass which dumps into the top of center chamber with no perforations.

I think it loses the high pitched sound for the same reason as the challenge race exhaust. Very little bank to bank mixing with the bypass open. (except twin sound has separated high flow secondary side whereas challenge race exhaust is separated high flow primary).

Either way, no high velocity mixing at the bypass section.

Your Challenge canister exhaust is similar to the Quicksilver muffler I had on my previous F355. I cut that open and made a divorced secondary like a Capristo and it had a very high pitched sound afterwords on bypass.

Here is my other muffler. I kept getting the camera stuck so crappy pics, but basically everything mixes in the center including the bypass. Some have perforations, some dont.
