By the way, I was very surprised to find out the census revised the Chicago population estimate of 2016 from 2.705Million to 2.720Million. The 2017 population is now 2.716M. 2010 population was 2.695. So Chicago has not lost population overall. Have not heard any of that from the national media. Don't get me wrong, Chicago has many scumbags in city government along with the State of Illinois, but the media is always one sided. I think that's why I like Chicago, I always root for the underdog.

How far will that be from the new Tiger Woods south-side golf course?

I was thinking those two should have been adjacent to each other.

 

Both in Jackson Park. Don't go down there to much other than to the Museum of Science and Technology. I figure in 20 years that area will be very different as most of the south side is migrating to Texas.

 

This theatre will be restored back to what it looked like in 1925. Love Terra Cotta!!! This is great news along with the huge Cook County Hospital and old massive downtown US Post Office restoration. This is a tall building for it's location, right next the west side of the Dan Ryan Expressway. At 700 feet it will stand out!!

25 W. Randolph/Equinox Hotel | 615 FT | 52 FLOORS approved and will start construction soon. This building will really stand out due to its location and is the 3rd over 500ft building to be developed on the other side. This used to be to end point for skyscrapers in Chicago, but they are jumping west over the Dan Ryan

Nice... do you know if the colors, specifically the darker recessed background color (stucco?) on floors 4,5,6 (I think) are original?
Really emphasizes the large column pairs.
Doesn't strike me as something that would have been done originally.

It was a darker color Terracotta from photos I have seen from the early 1900's.


Here is a link showing what Chicago will look like in 2023. 1, 2, 3 are under construction with 2 more , 5 and 6 to start next year. Also one is not pictured from the South Loop. No start date yet for the Tribune tower being done by California developers(4).

Still looking at a massive round hole in the ground where the corkscrew was supposed to be. I believe there will be a new building when I see it.

 

It's owned by Related now so I bet they get it started by mid 2019.

Also the Holly Name One Chicago Square 2 building site has financing and will start construction early 2019. Pretty building and kind of New York Empire state looking.

Cook County restoration has begun. A lot of work to do including completely gutting the inside. You can see the darker Terra Cotta sections behind the columns.

Wolf Point South...…….. More plans for the building in the center of the photo. The other two are either done or under construction. Could be the 5th over 1000 footer planned or under construction downtown since 2016!!
