I'll post a picture of the rear. The exhaust is a Speciale exhaust. I told him, with that many upgrades, why didn't the guy just buy a Speciale.
even then $85K is still a very good deal.... Having said that, the pics shown is that of a Speciale. I don't even see one 458 part. Either the "seller" changed every conceivable part (interior and exterior) or he's showing a pic of a Speciale. so many alarms going off right now....
Sadly, he is. As much as I point out that it is an obvious scam, he still believes it can happen. He keeps saying that, the guy is his friend and that is why he is giving him such a good deal. I said, "I've known you for 30 years and I wouldn't give you that deal!"
Ask your friend who the owner has lined up for the DOT/EPA conversion of this Speciale to the U.S. (he won't have an answer as it can't happen...)
Ask your friend if he's interested in a 1962 250 GTO. I have one available that he can buy for $55,000. All I need is a $10,000 deposit and I'll import the car in for him.
Not to mention that the 10th digit on that VIN is a '0', which is not a digit that is usable for year coding... but other F-Cars seem to have this as well??
This is one of the differences between a Euro Vin and a US one. In Europe it is always 000 (0000 before number 100000). No year identifier over here. Other differences in the ROW.
Call up a legitimate shop that performs DOT and EPA conversions and ask them what’s involved with converting a 2015 Ferrari to US specs. Yes I believe it IS possible to covert a 458 Speciale BUT it’s incredibly expensive. Last I checked, it cost over $100,000 (for a different type car) hence the sale price of 85,000 isn’t possible. Btw, here is who I used JK Technologies many years ago.
Either the initial post is trolling fun or the deal is a scam and some person with money is a complete idiot, or both. The initial thread premise is pretty hard to believe as is, so I certainly look askance at the entire story.
Unfortunately, it is not trolling. I didn't think anything of it when my friend told me about the car. He has a little bit of money and is a fan of Ferrari's. But, when he started giving me details, I immediately told him it was a scam. The strange thing is, the guy is really smart, but I think he got so excited that he was 1) getting the car and 2) getting such a good deal. I posted this on here, because I read a post on here a while ago about an owner importing a car into the U.S. and I thought it can help him realize that this is not real. I've passed along some info I've learned on here and I hope this helps open his eyes. His latest response is, the guy should have all of the documents soon and should have the car by 8/19.
That’s too bad. Let him know it’s so bad and obvious that some don’t even believe YOU in relaying the story.
He should have realized it by now considering its been 6 months and nothing was delivered. I still think this is a troll thread.
6 months? He thought he'd have the car for Cavallino. Not sure what a troll thread is. I've explained my position on this and have had a lot of good information that I can pass along to this guy. I was just looking to people who might have had more insight on this.
You need no insights, every 458 in one piece and drivable for five digits should ring alarm bell that the ears are bleeding...
