Measured the wheels the coned inserts are indeed close to 14mm through hole so seems normal, probably to account for small manufacturing tolerances as the bolts will pull up against the cone part of the insert.

I have been asked by several Countach owners to come up with a brake kit. Therefore, using the Wilwood parts, for around $2300.00 you can get parts from Wilwood and with a few small mods, everything would be a BOLT on, no adapters.
If you want to use your original rotors, the price would be around $1100.00 for a bolt on system. The system is matched to your original brake master cylinder, and brake bias stays the same.
I can provide to anyone that wants them, the Wilwood part numbers and you can contact Wilwood and get them.
Just using the calipers alone you would loose around 40 lb off of the car and have a much better brake system, and it is a bolt on, no adapters to mess with. Then if you want to use the Wilwood rotors you would loose around 80 lb off of the car.

Thankyou Sp1der for checking for me ,as you say with a 11.7mm bolt and a 14mm hole it should not matter as the load would be carried by the taper and the main weight carried by the concentric hub that is fantastic it means my wheels are factory original and not messed with great news thankyou.

Well she starts, couple of minor electrical issues to resolve mainly fan and one pop up light working radomly but went on 3rd turn of key which is not bad. Great to hear the thunder again in the garage! Will hopefully get on top of electrics tomorrow.

  10. Check your relay under the trunk. That is what caused my headlight pop up problem. Fan could easily be the connection.

Just switched out front tyres to some new 205/50 P Zero's so will see how that works out, the steering has never been particularly heavy so will probably lighten it up a bit more.

Just investigating why the water pump seal failed at Le Mans and signs of damage, bit annoyed as water pump was supposedly re-built by a uk expert about 900miles ago. I can see what has happened as rather than using a small puller to take the impeller off 2 screws has just been driven through the threaded holes in the impeller and used to drive the pulley off. Silicon then used to 'repair' the damage. Getting the pump off was not too bad a job just bent up a 10mm spanner at right angles to access the 2 awkward nuts, so about 1 hours total to remove. Not good. Did you have to get recovered from Le-mans mate?

Have you contacted the people who did the rebuild?

  19. The hard part about rebuilding the water pump (besides getting it apart) is making sure you press on the seal evenly. It's almost a guess because you can't really see it after the impeller is on. The best little tool I have found to press it evenly in is the black plastic cap that comes on a bug bomb! The bolts under the pump are nearly impossible to reach upon re install. A dab of grease on your finger will hold the bolt temporarily in place.

Managed to make a little tool out of a 10mm spanner bent at right angles to get the nuts out which worked well, lower washer and circlip also mangled so confirming pump rebuild was a hack job. Parts on the way so hopefully not too long before back underway.

Pump now re-assembled and checked for leaks before re-installation all seems ok, the new seal was a very different design to the one taken off and seems to have a tiny bit more pre-load, took about 2 hours to put back on the car and get connected up, hopefully fill circuit tonight and we are up and running again :)
