    Hi folks,
After a cautious, drawn-out process (vendor has been travelling), I've put a hold on the imminent purchase due to a very late discovery that the car in question was a RHD conversion (even though originally delivered into UK).
The things we learn when we are curious and start decoding VINs! Lesson learnt, next time I'll do that up front.

So now I'm looking again... The wishlist is:
    • 308 GTS QV
    • factory RHD
    • preferably AU delivered
    • preferably red & tan (sorry for lack of imagination)
    • preferably in NSW
Doesn't need to be concours condition, I'm planning to drive. (But don't want serious past repairs).

I'll keep watching the obvious places, but thought might be worth mentioning here.

    Thanks in advance.

There is a superior looking ex NZ car available in Melbourne, red/black. Talk to Maranello Motorsport about it, one of their clients.

I can't help him - he says he wants to drive
The good news is that the car is in Sydney
The bad news is that the engine is back in Melbourne
I am sure it will be fantastic when its finished but I just don't know when (if ever) the car will be finished
I am holding off making a booking for the 2018 FNR as I am not confident that I will have a car to drive

I'd have to have the car in my possession after all this time and do the job myself

I'd be spitting chips if this was me

It would have to rate as the worst possible 1st Ferrari buying experience.

I can understand that parts need to be sent out to be machined, but I find it unsatisfactory that the turn-around time is so long
The actual work that needs to be done, whether it is line boring or honing some new nikasil liners, takes very little time to do, so I can only assume that the machine shops have a farkin huge backlog of work

    I’ve felt your pain David,,
When my engine was being rebuilt in my GT4,the only progress that happened in the first 3 months was the mechanic moving my car from inside his workshop to outside in the morning and back inside in the afternoon..
I physically got involved with the rebuild otherwise it would still be there,,

    Not really
The car has been back in Sydney since January 2018 and when the engine is in the workshop they seem to make good progress with either stripping it down, doing all of the dimensional checks and reassembling components BUT when some part need to be ordered, or something needs to be manufactured or something needs to be machined it just takes so long.
Brand new set of nikasil liners ordered in February eventually arrived in June so SFA progress happened whilst waiting on those parts.
I don't know if all of the blame for the delay rests with the suppliers and the machine shops or whether part of the delay is caused by the way that these support agencies are managed by the workshop that I am dealing with.
I can not fault the quality of the work that they appear to be doing, and the quality of the work that appears to be getting done by the other suppliers that they rely on, but my level of frustration continues to rise.

Now I understand why buyers pay $$$ for 100% sorted & restored OHOS cars, avoid this kind of drama.
