Also even though you may not get a factory tour you can still get near the factory and visit all the cool places near it like the Ferrari store and have lunch or dinner at the Ristorante Cavallino Maranello which is just across the street. Enzo ate here all the time, pretty cool place to look around!

Even if you bought your F 430 privately, You should still get a tour! Marenello is a nice small town. You take the shuttle to Modena to see Enzo's home and museum and Pavarotti home on the shuttle.

 

also try the restaurant 'montana' - schumi preferred it !

close by you will also see lamborghini and pagani

 

A couple of suggestions:

1) Talk to your local dealer and try to get them to sponsor you for a tour. (many of us have done so despite not buying the car from them. I hear rumblings that they have tightened the rules on this, but its worth a try)

2) Do a search in this forum and perhaps in the silver forum. The topic of visiting the factory and local area has come up and been covered several times with great recommendations for lodging, eating, touring, museums, etc from locals and visitors alike. Its all there someplace...

 

I had two days, IIRC we did:

Arrival day: Dinner at Montana
Day 1: Factory tour with visit to the museum across the street and lunch at Cavalino. Dinner at Montana.
Day 2: Museum in Modena and visit to Lambo factory

It all depends on whether there is a tour taking place with spaces.
Speak to your dealer, they should still accommodate you. They did for me (UK).

 

So if you are an owner you are able to do a Factory Tour. You will need to contact your local Ferrari Dealer - or Ferrari North America to set up the tour. you will need proof of ownership ( title, insurance or registration ) and Serial number. FNA is now charging for the tour. I believe its around $350 Euro per person.

I was just at the Factory last Wednesday. The tour was booked solid - there were over 30 people - in two tour buses. If you decide to not do the factory tour, then the best choice is the Ferrari Museum in Maranello and then the Enzo Museum in Modena. Personally I think its best to rent a car, so you can move around on your own.

Lamborghini is closer to Bologna - about 35- 40 min... the country roads are very narrow so be warned the drive from Maranello to Sant'a Agata is somewhat challenging at times - beware of bicycles and tractors. lots of sharp flat turns. Lambo museum & gift shop are not much. factory is smallish... but its nice to see the old factory out front. its literally in the middle of no where farming areas.

Pagani is in Modena - outskirts north of the train station - located in an industrial park setting. there is a nice gift shop / museum. tours are personalized - so you have to contact the factory direct - and or dealer to get them set up.

Maserati is very close - across the train tracks from the Enzo Museum in Modena... kind of a cruel irony considering his dislike of the Maserati folks... you can purchase both tickets for both museums at once.

as for places to eat - Cavallino is hit or miss - been there several times - last week it was great. Montana is good as well, but they are both traditional food styles - there is nothing fancy ... and also no burgers etc... so its not Americanized at all. I had risotto ala Balsamico which was great... and then parma ham & melon... with some Lambrusco... all the pasta is homemade. Matteo is who you want to wait on you!

 

There is nothing to see in Maranello apart from the Galleria Ferrari, it's just an industrial town. If you can get "sponsored" by a Ferrari dealer, then you can do the factory visit. If that's the plan, I would call the dealer ASAP because the visits have very limited places.

As already mentioned, in Modena there is another museum called "Casa Enzo Ferrari". Modena is also where Osteria Francescana is located, considered the best restaurant in the world. Not very far for tourism Bologna is a wonderful city to visit, see, and eat.

 

I did a walk-in at the Ducati factory, that was cool if you like bikes

 

I have done three separate trips to Maranello (factory tour only once) and stayed a few days each time. I guess if you are travelling form the US or Canada then perhaps you want to make as much use of your time as possible.
I love Maranello and there's enough for a two or three days. I also visited Modena whilst staying in Maranello on the three day stay.

And what you do there when not visiting the factory & Galleria? At least Modena is a nice medium-sized town with a lot to see, and it's just 25-30 minutes by car from Maranello.

 

Agreed. Stayed there last year. It is a wonderfully fabulous hotel.

 

Modena is a great town with a lot of excellent restaurants and sites. Don’t forget to buy some real Balsamic while there. Maranello has the factory, the museum, some shops but not much else.

Visit Carrozzeria Egidio Brandoli in nearby Montale (between Maranello and Modena).

Visit Autofficina Franco Toni (just 200 meters north of old factory brick entrance on Via Abetone Inferiore 41 in Maranello).
Visit Cuoio Mauro Schedoni & Co at Via Ghandi 44 in Modena.
Visit Carrozzeria Franco Ferrari in Casinalbo (between Maranello and Modena).
Visit Carrozzeria Cremonini in Lesignana (top paint shop, in Modena).
Visit Diena & Silingardi, famous and renowned engine and mechanical shop at Via Toscanini in Modena.
Visit Carrozzeria Auto Sport, Bachelli & Villa in Bastiglia (near Modena).
Visit the remains of the old Aerautodromo in the city of Modena with the freshly restored control tower.
Visit the cemetary San Cataldo in Modena where Enzo Ferrari's graveyard is.
Visit the shop of Prot Auto of Marco Baldi in Sorbara.
Visit the official Ferrari dealer Ineco at Via Emilia Est in Modena.
Try to sneak into Carrozzeria Scaglietti at Via Emilia Est in Modena.
Try to visit Maserati in the city of Modena, more or less across Museo Enzo Ferrari MEF (walking distance) in Modena.

Lots and lots of things to do. I could go on for much more.
All you need is a car, a credit card (Euros in cash actually help better) and a lot of time.
