^^^Spot on. In fact, Alonso deserved so much respect putting in performances when Dennis and co were clearly backing Lewis. Best, Sammy
Alonso's self-confidence was crushed by a rookie. 2007 was a watershed in his career, if you follow it closely.
Again "poles"... you sound like a broken record... without sense repeating the same thing on and on...
Is that why he almost got WDC with Ferrari...because his self confidence was crushed....what an unreasonable drivel....
I don't see why. A twice WDC should have been able to deal being paired with a rookie. But Alonso cracked psychologically, and just about matched Hamilton on the track. But more than that, after years of being th "teacher's pet", he was confronted with reality. I think Alonso's big problem is lack of communication.
Yes poles are important in F1. So yeah give credit where credit is do. I'll say it AGAIN. Lewis beat Alonso in poles. I'm gonna say it again within the next hour, and probably again tomorrow
Here's a good read on d r i v e t r i b e for those who are open to statistics beyond the # of poles that contribute 0 points to the WDC. lol. Can't seem to post the url without it being censored off by fchat, so just replace "d r i v e t r i b e" without spaces and you're good to go: d r i v e t r i b e . com/p/just-how-good-is-fernando-alonso-EZFdkDc1T56hXk3VVk3t1A
No, poles are worthless without the result on Sunday. Poles are to start THE RACE at the front only, you can buy absolutely nothing for poles. And Sunday Alonso was better by your logic because he made the same amount of points from the back!
Alonso had the same points, the same wins, the same everything....... Remember too that Alonso spent six months in the sin bin at McLaren for breaking rank with them, so he had the **** parts, the least help, the less investment in his race strategy, yet I don’t remember Alonso pressing his pit button mid lap, nor driving into the gravel trap during g a race, or of course, driving into the back of a stationary car claiming temporary colour blindness..... hehehehehehehe hehehehe. Elton the fast fool..... you think Alonso wanted to win any races to help Mclaren win a championship towards the end? No chance, I’d say that if you watch the Brazil race, you’ll see that Alonso got into position to ensure he failed to win, and then ensured that he held that position regardless. All this of course while elton was trying to find the ‘go’ button on his wheel hehehehehehehehehehehe
Image Unavailable, Please Login Yes the blessed one truly destroyed him. It's not a story line. It's absolute fact. But as with all discussions with you and others, we all must claim that elton is the greatest, and with twisted statistics ''elton crushed alonso''.
If Charles Leclare started along side Vettel this year as a rookie, had multiple wins and matched him in points to finished second in WDC, also beat Vettel in poles, which driver would you say has the edge?
Glad that you admit that he matched Lewis ^^^ You must remember all the media when Dennis was saying "we" when he was referring to Hamilton's side of the garage - they spent months clarifying how he " mis spoke". Surely Hamilton's been the teachers' pet the last few years - look up last week's drive and Bottas the wingman last race. Then go through how many times Toto has massaged his ego.And that's without going back to the Rosberg years
What i gather from your post is that team owners recognize who is their best driver, therefore aid them to win the championship for them and keep their sponsors happy
Absolutely right !! When rookie Hamilton started to challenge twice WDC Alonso immediatly in 2007, it was a bloody sensation. The Spaniard never expected his Young team mate to challenge him, to win some races and ultimately to get the better of him. Alonso expected some team orders and that Hamilton would be kept on a short leash, but to his credit, Ron Dennis never did that! Alonso felt absoluteky gutted and couldn't stand it anymore; he left! I think it was the beginning of his paranoia.
To his credit, Dennis renaged on the agreement that Alonso was designated as the number one driver ??? The same Ron Dennis who brought Alonso back and is currently counting the pebbles on his drive - yeah right. Well done Ron. Best, Sammy
Of course Ron Dennis saw the potential in Hamilton and took his side in the team Not only he had "discovered" Hamilton and helped him for years through the ranks, but he also promoted him to F1 It was a Wise move; not only Hamilton soon proved to be more than a match for the "star" twice WDC Alonso, but he also came with a lower price tag !!! Alonso, in the other corner, only caused problems at McLaren if you remember. He never stopped whinning about his treatment, and had a role in the spygate scandal tht cost McLaren so dear. I agree that at Mercedes Hamilton has been seen from the start as Number One, and benefited from preferential treatment. Rosberg got fed up with it and ran away with a title, but Bottas doesn't seem to mind.
I am not quite sure Ron Dennis wanted Alonso the second time around. I suspect Honda imposed him, and offered to pay his retainer. They did the same with Senna years ago. That and the 100 millions dollars sponsorship added to the free power units may have helped Ron Dennis to accept him. But I think the relationship was tense at the best of time; that's probably why Boullier was recruited to deal with the shenanigans, IMO.
Had a role in spygate? Yes, in that he saw what was going on..... ie, Mclaren cheating, and grassed on them to the FIA..... he is, actually, the good guy, standing up against cheating. You can hardly claim that Mclaren were the innocent victims. Had Mclaren not have been cheating, Alonso didn’t have to speak up..... they did If you are going to draw the conclusion that elton beat Fernando in 2007, then clearly, there is nothing anyone can say to put you right. Keep imagining things and one day, they might come true
It has always happened and it will keep on happening; not only in F1 but in practically every form of racing / Motorsports.
He beat him on countback points...scored more wins and more second places. What other conclusion could one reach Incidentally I have high respect for Fernando...he's right up there close to Lewis as far as I'm concerned.
