OK.So 812 Monza sounds like modern 550 Barchetta. Assuming 812 engine is last version of an unassisted V12 that Ferrari produce I can see the logic of producing 2 or 3 LE variants. Desirable as it is an open top 812 does not really interest me.
It is coming, limited edition, no windscreen, open car with virtually zero windscreen. Clients have already been selected by the factory (without involving the dealers!). Marcel Massini
The 50's road racers represented a Golden Age IMHO and a modern version is appealing but I cannot imagine travelling at modern speeds in one. Will a Halo be fitted ?
Center piece of any collection. Would have to be a complete departure from the 812 hard edges to look anything like the 50's Monzas. I can see an F12 morph into it but the modern chassis is very wide. If they pull this off then Lucca was not kidding! It makes sense. Back to the roots and rawness. Needs much more than bodywork though. Engine and drivetrain should be at highest levels of achievement. What a statement Image Unavailable, Please Login
Showing in the USA soon. I dont know what they are thinking of not offering me one According to my wife I am Ferrari mad! or was it just mad.
The timing suggested above seems to imply that it could be the car previewed at Pebble Beach and not the 488 Pista Aperta Would either of our guides care to comment ?
Care to elaborate as to whether it will have "enhanced" engine etc etc Even a yes or no would be great
Pininfarina tried out a race inspired "open" concept back in 2000 but Ferrari didn't build the car for customers that time > Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'd be in for an equivalent of the F12TDF / 599GTO, a beefed up Coupe version. Anything else, and I'm uninterested -- which is good since there's more than enough people interested, and I don't want to be yet another name in the hat.
In some countries like mine, this LE 812 open top can not be registered as road car. If I get a chance, I will buy it knowing I can not use it on the road. This car will be a dream on the track. Maintenance aside, there should be no match for this type of track car in the past or near future anymore than SLR Stirling Moss which is not a Ferrari or V12. I expect it to be a little softer version of 812 given the open top nature and this is all the better for track use. I want to explore more with easier setup than work hard with harsh setup. Please god help me on this
Speculation on tdf successor thread is that 812 VS (not the barchetta we appear to be discussing) will be called MM. Please let it be so.
Has there ever been an accurate name speculation (other than possibly those from people like Marcel whose link to Ferrari is well known)?
Can someone confirm that the frog that I am has understood There will be three models based on the 812 1) An hardcore LE model, called 812 Monza 2)An Ultra-LE Model(Like F60,J50,Sergio) barchetta/speedster body style 3)An Aperta LE model
Not my understanding. I only saw reference to a barchetta (as per Marcel’s post) with no windscreen and no roof...Only one model. Now perhaps there will be another LE later on but up to now the only model I have heard about is this one Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
