1983 BBi Restoration Starts

The engine is stripped and all the parts are out being plated. We will replace the injectors, hoses, wires, hardware and a bunch of other parts. Should be in good working order once all is finished.

Not that you asked for any comments but for your Verde Germoglio color code sticker, you used the Glasurit format and kept the Rossa Corsa color code number.
I think the Glasurit stickers look better, but if you haven't considered it, maybe you could try making a Glidden sticker since they made Verde Germoglio. I've found Glidden stickers online, but not one specifically for how Verde Germoglio was abbreviated (if it was) on the stickers.

VColin you are 100% correct. I made the paint sticker before I had the Glidden Salchi color swatch book. I as unaware they provided the paint for this color. I will order a sticker from Eurospares, as theirs look most accurate.

I can only find one reference on how they write the paint code on this sticker. It is just hand engraved into the aluminum, is this accurate, does anyone know?

All of the ones I've seen have been hand embossed. From searching online, I only found one that looked like marker was used afterwards to fill in the indentations.

Would this sticker really be in English? And, FWIW, I've never ever seen this sticker before. Even on some '83's we brought in in '83. Just asking.

 

Pull the spark plug tubes and have them plated. It's very easy and dresses up the block. I have a split coller I used if you need it. Put a spark plug socket over plug and used a 3 arm puller to pull up the tubes by the coller. Coller is machined on one side to fit over buldge at top of tubes.

Just received these pics from the interior shop, the woven wool felt that I purchased worked, elated, what a hunt for the material. The color looks a bit gray in these pics but its a straight black. I will send better pics once I see the car and its finished. If anyone need contact info for the felt let me know.

Fresh coat of black on the underside. I wish Ferrari didn't spray the undercoating I would so much rather see the beautiful metal work and welding work.

The engine is getting reassembled this weekend. Steve at Exclusive Motorcars of Arizona is doing such an amazing job. He worked through a bunch of stuff on the motor including the AC and waterpump. The AC was converted to R134 which will be nice.

The 250’s have more markings than the new cars and are more visible. I remember when I saw them on my first restoration and fell in love. I have issues...
