The problem with competitive Motorsports today is the definition of "racing" or perhaps the merging or even morphing of what it is. It's certainly not pure as it was historically where it was about racing period, where everyone would "run what they brung" and did the talking on the track. Today, "racing" is less about that and more politics, i.e., green initiatives and manufacturer objectives and marketing strategies. These things are just incompatible with pure racing as a sport. Teams should have no say or influence on the series. Merc shouldn't be able to lobby for changes that benefit them or keep them on top nor should smaller teams cause cost savings like engine limitations and the number of gearboxes. All of that is artificial. Remove the non-racing elements and you'd have a formula that would be considerably cheaper and with that you'd have new entries and an elimination of restrictions on testing and number of parts etc. Imagine how much better guys like Seb, Lewis, Max, etc would be in the car if they were actually able to drive it and practice between races.

Pie in the sky probably, but the issues with F1 aren't a secret.

I would quite likely be more interested if it was 95% spec series, yes. I want to see a spectacle and be entertained. They can make the most technological and crazy aero based cars the planet has ever seen, going round corners at 300mph....if the racing is boring I wouldn't watch.

Ross Brawn has now said F1 could well be Fully electric within 10 years time. That's me done. I'd have zero interest in watching a minute of that. I don't care which driver, which team races in that.

If that where to happen I'm sure Red Bull would do what I said in the previous post, create a racing series that rivals F1. I'd certainly approach them in getting it done. The (non F1) teams would be onboard also, likely some F2 teams and possible some LMP2/1 privateer teams also. Race Streaming sorted via Amazon prime or Netflix.

I repeat; I will believe it when I see it, and not before.

F1 will die of natural death one day, killed by technology, like air racing was, and speed boats whre before.

I'm sure Red Bull isn't short of ideas to advertise its drinks and can do without F1.

Historic racing will be thriving in future ...

Lance Stroll at Force India from Spa.

Ocon losing his seat and moving to McLaren to replace Vandoorne.

Perez reprieved thanks to his court action, but looking for another seat for next year.

Kimi would have signed another 1 year contract at the Scuderia.

If the announcement concerned F1 or WEC it would have been made earlier today, this announcement is going to be made at a time convenient for US east coast time release obviously so yes, it seems certain. The question is what team he will join, not necessarily a new Mclaren sub Andretti unit....

The Honda people I know out in SoCal say that the F1 guys at Honda are impressed with Gasly's efforts with Toro Rosso. So, his moving up to Red Bull makes sense.

Yea but he made it to F1.........that’s more than most can ever dream.
I would gladly sit middle of the pack for 5-10 years in F1.
