Isnt a cobra daytona near the $20m mark?
I like the C4 at this small auction, had not seen one in dark red before (rosso nearco?). https://russoandsteele.com/vehicle-details/?show_vehicle=172647¤t_index=4&total_results=20&tsauction_id=199&=&caryear=0&caryearto=0&search_text=Ferrari&page=featured&showpage=1 I drove half a dozen of them and very few cars sound better going through a tunnel foot to the floor, windows down
Not sure I have seen a GTC4 with the wood centre console before. Thought that came with the later 365GT4 2+2?
Interesting that Artcurial haven't actually now been given the opportunity to sell it after the car was withdrawn from their 2018 Paris sale.
Not saying this is what happened, but if I were RM and I found this history before the Artcurial auction, I would offer the Bardinon's well above high-estimate and buy the car from under the auction. Its also worth noting that the description says "Offered for private sale following 48 years in the Mas du Clos Collection." I don't believe they own the car anymore, it sounds like RM (or another dealer) owns it.
Hello all, We are honored to reveal this newly discovered information with the community and to offer 0816 for private sale on behalf of the Bardinon Family. For further information please visit the lot page here. RM Sotheby's
Congrats RM team! And huge props to your research department on helping bring the newly discovered history of the car to light! No matter the value, this is an unbelievable car and an important part of motoring history. Can't wait to see it in Monterey!
0816. Just for clarity of the thread the newly discovered information being discussed regarding 0816 is that it was actually entered at the 1963 Le Mans race, which it won, using the paperwork of 0814 that was previously thought to be the winner, but had been seriously damaged at a practice accident at the Nuburgring 1000 KM a month before and was being repaired at the time of the race. So, as well as winning the 1964 12 Hours of Sebring, 0816 is a 2 times Le Mans winner, 1963 and 1964.
I can think of one other off the top of my head, GT40 P1075. Besides that there were a few pre-war cars that did but others may be able to offer more info than I.
Yes the Joest team won Le Mans with the same Porsche 956 (New Man livery car) in the 80’s and they did it again with the same Porsche WSC 95 in the 90’s, and the GT40 as mentioned above. Weirdly IIRC the WSC95 chassis started life as a Jaguar XJR14
And a true classic, the Bentley Old Number 1 won it twice in 1929 and 1930 although whereas the aforementioned Porsche 956 #956-117, Ford GT40 #1075, Porsche WSC95 #001 are largely original, the Bentley is anything but.
I am not sold on that theory, although it could be right. I do know that the car was pulled from Artcurial because the family found out they didn't need to sell it. Supposedly it was only ever offered because of France's heavy death taxes and a review of this procedure had assured the family that they didn't necessarily have to sell another car to pay more Euro's. Since that time it would appear that there has been further arguments over Pierre's estate and at some point it seems clear that should they not reach agreement on who gets what, the entire collection will come to market. Even if they do agree, the collection including the Le Mans winning 375 Plus, 1 of 3 330P4, 312P and on and on might come to market. Exciting times.
How is it that #0816 is put up for sale when the Bardinon judgement does not have to be closed? If I remember this one was postponed for September 13, 2018. What about the French IRS? RM does magic?
All sources I can find say that 0812 won the 12 Hours of Sebring, 1964 yet you (RM Sotheby's) state on your web site that 0816 won this race. Please can you clarify. Thank you. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Factory records have 0816 as the car driven by Parkes and Maglioli at the 1964 12 Hours of Sebring. RM Sotheby's
Thank you very much for the clarification. Just a suggestion; perhaps you could add that fact to the script on your web site.
Hello Christian, No magic here. Interested parties may contact the RM Sotheby’s Private Sales team to learn more about the acquisition process. RM Sotheby's
Hello, I was waiting some further informations, No possible for you to explain us what it can happened afther a sale. I feel very surprised the car was stopped to sale in Paris. Regards
Apologies for coming back to this. Ferrari Classiche have given the reason why 0814's identity/paperwork was used at Le Mans 1963 for 0816 so may I ask what is the official reason 0816 has also now been identified as the winner of the 12 Hours of Sebring, 1964 instead of 0812? I appreciate that 0812 was damaged/burned at Le Mans, 1963 but that was 9 months before Sebring so it had plenty of time to be rebuilt. Mike Parkes himself was under the impression he drove 0812 at Sebring, 1964. See this link from his own records: http://www.s154140382.websitehome.co.uk/mikeParkes/dev240931/raceList.php See here for the pics of 0812's damage at Le Mans, 1963: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/250p-0812-le-mans-1963-fire-photo-sequence.88265/
