Hoovie's 355 Exploded?

Cause he flips a bone to an IAAI rep. Pretty corrupt if you ask me. The Auction salvage business is a terrible monster. I could lecture for hours about insurance corruption, claims manipulation, poor adjustments and a pretty good disregard for the insured or the claimant. I own a successful collision business and I deal with it daily. The insurance companies complain about our success as shops, but in reality, they are licensed thieves.

In this case, he probably has an inside guy and works the system. He also has the app or email alerts on every car that comes in with certain criteria.

It is not a “kosher” deal. If I am wrong, my apologies to Tarvish, but I doubt I am wrong. I have witnessed this behavior by claims handlers, DRP shops and Employees of insurance auctions first hand. Not all are bad and not a blanket statement, but truthful none-the-less.

Great video and it made me go check my car and My set up is not like the one shown in the video. I have an early 95 and it had two fuel filters and two internal pumps. The braided fuel lines are very short going to the fuel rails and nothing is touching them.

 

seen that vid before and is very good explanation of the fuel line issue.

but as can be seen the divider block recall is not done.

which also proves it’s not a defect and more human error for the cars that did burn from it.

That car was getting abused by that Vehicle Virgins guy as soon as he took it off the trailer.

I don't think these guys are capable of changing the oil on the cars they own let alone knowing what not to do to a car that's been cold started. But hey Gucci shirts and gold Rolex's gets the kids subscribing to their youtube channels.

Not sure when they switched from two pumps to one. My car is a July 94 build.

Arent all 94-95 cars 2.7 and all 2.7 cars have the dual fuel system pictured above?
That is why I was a bit confused when the cause of fire video mentioned that both 2.7 and 5.2 cars are equally likely to experience a fire. I don't see it that way at all.

Nope. Later 2.7 cars have a single fuel pump. Dual fuel pump cars do not have the fuel divider block - it's not needed.

 

no. only the early 94 production had the dual fuel pump/filters.

as mentioned above later in 95 it switched to single pump. as with the 96+ units.

the guy in video is correct, all models are at risk of this issue if clamp at front is not positioned corectly

but yes those early dual pump models maybe not at risk for it. since fuel lines are routed differently.

 

Geez, I just sold my '92 348ts and signed a sales contract on a '98 F355 Spider. Has me slightly nervous!

 

Just check it before you drive it... If you had a PPI done before you signed the contract, I would get your money back (at least on the PPI). This problem is not unknown to the Ferrari 355 community.

I'll double check tomorrow that the recall has been done. The car's had it's belts, headers and valve guides done in the past year and owner has been meticulous with the servicing on the vehicle so I'd be very surprised if it hasn't been done.

 

Dustin - if it's not, just get it to a dealer. It will be no cost to you. In fact, I believe FNA covers transportation to / from dealers for safety recalls.

 

Well for the record my dealer wouldn't come pick it up for the recall, but would if I was having a belt service done.

 

My buddies 458 has a safety recall. FNA paid for enclosed transport to and from (6 hour trip each way). Perhaps if you are close to a dealer they will not but if you are far, they will.

 

4 hour round trip for me. No love

 

I wish I would have heard this in the 5 years I owned my 355. I would have checked into it. I sold the car with the recall still not completed because I am so ridiculously far from a dealer. (Or anywhere for that matter)

I think my closed dealer is salt Lake City, UT which is 11 hours 18 minutes ONE WAY.

 

Please don't think that I believe a 2 hr trip to the dealer is far.


Also I know you live in the boonies.
