Chill out "mate". Hamilton has made his choice. Alonso . . . . been there, done that. It didn't work out.

Bring on the race. I'm confident "we" can win.

It would be true if someone had actually quoted that ...

    FWIW
I haven't read a post where someone had directly quoted that it has nothing to do with the car, so I'll assume he was exaggerating for effect...:)

What i'm hearing from some here is the car matters more in the rain, so all the epic rain drives from Senna, Schumacher and Vettel's past rain performances was because of the car not their talent in the rain?

Sic.... the car matters in both cases but a fast car in the dry is not necessarily also fast in the wet..

Yep...I bellieve Kimi was in a lap earlier than the Bull's even...
The team makes too many mistakes still. Mercedes is nearly flawless. That said I'm confident for Tomorrow. Kimi should be able to take 3rd with ease, if they give him a half decent strategy and if he gets passed the force india's quickly he could even make a run at Hamilton....A decent start for Vettel will be good, but can just wait behind Lewis if not and take him on the camel straight
KTU in a ''twisting things in Elton's favour'' shocker.

Funny, I thought you were "twisting things in Vettels favour" when you said the Mercedes being the better car was the reason for pole.

A wet track or varying conditons as on this occasion, does put more emphasis on a drivers skill set.

In dry Q2, there was nothing in it time wise between Merc and Ferrari, then it rained ;)

    • Seb started his last (3rd) flying lap with low battery, as you can see from the pic, which explains why he didn't gain on Hamilton in S1. The most impressive thing is that with that set-up Seb lost only 0,4 in S2, as in dry conditions.

    • Obviously doing 3 consecutive flying lap don't help tyres

    • Why didn't Seb charge the battery during the 2nd lap? Seb explained: if he sacrificed that lap to charge the battery (and then a yellow flag came out in his third lap), he wouldn't have improved his time

Vettel had a battery problem on his last lap which lost him some time.

EDIT: Beaten to it by the post above.

[AMuS] Due to the wet Q3, we still have no comparison between the Spec 3 quali modes of Ferrari and Merc. Force India Andy Green has compared Ferrari to Haas: "Haas have turned on the engine in Q2 fully according to our measurements. And there was a lot of power."

Stroll is talent-less waste and now this with Ocon having such a good result. I know we have wealth in F1 and pay drivers with weak teams that need cash. I understand but Stroll is not a talent with money. Just money - https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/138265/hamilton-ocon-worries-show-f1-flawed-structure

TV cameras caught Ocon speaking to Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel after qualifying, as the former all but confirmed his seat at Force India would be taken by Lance Stroll in 2019.

Vettel: "Next year, where are you going? You are staying here?"

Ocon: "No, it [the seat] is taken."

    Vettel: "Oh yeah? By who?"

Ocon: "Have a guess! The one who bought it!"

such a shame. Ocon definitely outperforms the Stroller on the track by a mile................but not in the bank. Perez will eat the Stroller for lunch. It will be an embarrassment for the Stroller and his father.

I wonder if Lawrence will make the call to get rid of his son given a year and his "paltry" performance.... I would.

Stroll Sr and his associates will be hit in the pocket if the point tally decreases at Force India.
Maybe it doesn't matter too much to them, but the team will receive less at the end of 2019 with Jr onboard.

There's always a faint possibility that Lance might score a few points with a better car. I just wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it . . . .
