Is it my clutch, linkage or gears :(

    1997 355 just turned over 42,000 miles, 6 speed manual.
    Just got it back from a major (engine out) service a month or so ago, and put about 600 plus miles on it.
    Of course they did not touch the transmission or clutch, maybe changed the mounts I would have to go back and look.
    So before the service downshifts into 2nd felt a bit spongy.
    Thought it was just me.
    Still felt it after the service, but still felt ok.
    The last week felt even funnier but still shifted fine.
    Today I downshifted into 2nd, let out the clutch and nothing.
    Acted like it was in neutral, headed back home and stayed out of the gas.
    Close to the house downshifted into 2nd, it felt funny (the shifter only) but went into gear.
    Next time nothing again, the gated shifter is in 2nd but you let the clutch out feels like neutral.
    I am not up on FChat searches to see if this has been discussed before.
    Curious anybody deal with this before.

    Shift linkage probably loose at the jam nut where it's disconnected when engine comes out.

    That would actually be nice if it was that simple ;)
    I will flat bed it back to the shop. It also has an oil leak.
    It was a bit mushy/spongy before I took it in for the engine out service.
    Would they have been working in that area during the service ?

    Next up it the real baffling thing.
    The flappy piece on the HVAC under the hood up front.
    With the stop button it doesn’t move, with the stop button up (operating) it constantly cycles open/closed with heat or AC turned on.
    It never did that before the service ?

    Linkage is disconnected there at service. Chances are nut was not tightened enough.
    AC recirc flap is not a usual area dealt with at service. Flap malfunction is common in 348s and 355s.

    On the flap malfunction does is usually flap open and closed every 5 seconds .......
    I thought this was strange it never did this before the service, but has done it since the service.

    Strange... My flapper did something similar after my major a few months ago. I've done the brass spindle modification on my car, so I thought the flapper actuator might have stripped gears. I ordered a new one, but before I got it, the flapper started working again (and has worked perfectly ever since). I didn't disturb any other components other than turning off the battery for a while (for another problem). I have heard power resets sometimes work for HVAC problems.

    On mine I did turn the battery off for a day, it still did the open/close thing after turning it back on.
    I even ran it with everything off for close to 20 minutes.
    Stop switch up and it was a flappin again........lol.

    maybe theres a malfunction somewhere.. but the AC button does not control the recirculation flap..
    while its happening, is the recir button in or out..?

    When the “stop” button is out, or up, is when the flap is opening and closing.
    If you push the button down it stops.
    As mentioned this started and has continued since the engine out service.

    Both the shift linkage and the hydraulic clutch line are disconnected during a major service.
    They likely did not bleed the clutch line fully/ correctly
