Or, if you have the time, drive to Maranello and watch at the Auditorium Enzo Ferrari. Been there last year during the Shanghai GP with my family. Really local crowd, old and young, and very knowledgeable, and amazung athmosphere. I think we were some of the very few "Ferrari-tourists"....

Hamilton wonders about trick Ferrari

Lewis Hamilton ended Sunday's Belgian grand prix wondering if Ferrari had used technical "tricks" for victory.

The Mercedes driver started from pole, but was easily passed by Sebastian Vettel who then raced to the win at Spa-Francorchamps.

"They've got a few trick things going on in the car," Hamilton alleged.

"They're able to deploy more than us, somehow, from turn one to Eau Rouge, and then it carries on down the straight. I'm not really sure how," he added.

Earlier this year, suspicions arose about the legality of Ferrari's power unit, but the FIA looked into it and concluded everything was above board.

When asked about Hamilton's latest 'trick' comment, F1 race director Charlie Whiting said on Sunday: "It amuses me, because we know a lot about Ferrari's car and Lewis does not.

"The FIA knows what is at stake and we're happy," he added.

Journalists wondered if Hamilton was making an accusation of cheating, but the Briton backed down from that claim.

"No, we all have trick things on our cars. Trick is just a word for something special, I guess," said the world championship leader.

"I'm not saying that there's anything illegal. I don't mean anything to it so please don't twist my words and say that I said they're doing anything illegal because they're not."

Hamilton's Mercedes boss Toto Wolff, however, backed his driver's suspicions.

"When you're beaten on the track, then you look at yourself and the others. And if you can't find an explanation, you get dirty thoughts.

"But I have great faith in the FIA that they have everything under control," he said.

After 5 years of dominance, this sort of reaction / response from the Mercedes camp is so unsportsmanlike and ridiculous...what a bunch of divas.

WOW! That would have been a serious face plant if the tire had made contact with Leclercs head. Clearly the halo did its job.

 

I agree with the earlier post, and what LH states, that the expression is more one of respect than an allegation. Now on the other hand, Toto's words are a different thing.

Better than anything that LH says is the visual after he gets out of his car and he spends a bit of time just standing in front of the Ferrari with a look of befuddlement on his face.

As LH says, and was stated in the press during practice, Ferrari was able to carry more speed through Eau Rouge, and Sun it was on full display. When they hit the Kemmel straight on lap 1 Seb was carrying much more speed than LH. That he would pass was obvious.

 

That's pretty amazing. The Halo might look weird, but it evidently does the job.

 

that great pitstop was critical for that win. No idea why they gave Lewis the undercut.

But both the Force India were next to Lewis as well and they were coming even more from the back...and they use a Mercedes engine... So I would say that Lewis did not get the most out of his car after the hairpin (maybe less traction with cold tyres) and the rest was the tow....no "trick" or "miracle", just racing...

 

And this crash might end the discussion whether it is needed for once and all time...
