Yap...sad to see Ocon in a bad car, but happy to see Robert get his chance....
I don't see Kubica in the other seat. I saw his arm in an interview a few weeks ago. There's basically no strength in it at all. Such a pity. I really loved watching him drive.
He is the reserve driver for Williams so his position/contract gives him 1st dibs on a free spot. There is no point giving a driver "reserve" status if they don't get a call up. Williams doesn't want to be Merc B-team so it's unlikely they would do a straight swap with Ocon. If they don't pick Robert they would have to pick someone that isn't racing/testing in F1 at the moment maybe Massa can un-retire again or Button can return and crash like Monaco 2017 LOL.
Agree it will be a real shame that Stroll takes Ocon's place, but then F1 has always been a playground for rich kids...thats how it started at the end of the day. I wouldnt mind so much if the guy actually had a personnailty/carisma, but he acts like a damp squid spoilt on daddies money. If he beats Perez then fine he deserves his place, and I'll respect him. If he doesnt, I wonder how long pappa Stroll will tolerate poor performance, as at the end of the day there is proper money on the table now and other investors who will want a ROI...! Will also be interesting to see what happens atW illiams with our Stroll money...I hope them make it.
I saw his hand personally as I met him in Montreal. Yes, it looks very fragile and not like there is much strength. That said he did full GP distance practice runs last fall in Hungary, so he should be ready for a race.
And he did double GP distance at hungary in a day, which as we all know is very much like a street circuit without the barriers.
This must not be easy for the stroller, he knows everyone thinks he's crap...and he know's he's crap!!! he doesn't have one single fan (i'm pretty sure even his dad thinks he sucks but he has to keep bankroling him or mom will put him on the couch!) and the whole world make fun of him....o well...
No single fan? Really? I could dig up plenty of pics I took in Austin last year and Montreal this year with hundreds of people rooting for him. Don't kid yourself, all of Montreal is rooting for their home town hero. In fact the more folks dislike him on here, I start to root for him. I always liked the anti-hero.
Not all...i know a very nice lady that's usually around here and can't stand him!!! he's not an anti-hero..he's simply a lousy driver pretending to be a good one...
..I honestly think sirotkin is better than him....and eriksson has been a much better driver this year (still sucks though!), so i would honestly put lancelot as the current worst driver on the grid...Hartley also sucks a lot! I guess Kmag would be well served with any of them
Hartley is better suited to prototype cars. Occasionally he shows proper pace but not nearly enough. Sirotkin I think is better than Stroll. He's winning the qualifying battle at the moment and I believe his finishes are generally better. Of course Stroll has the one points finish that helps him at the moment. But I don't think he's besting him, and he really should.
Asking about his visit to FI on Tuesday, even on the public roads he makes mistakes RF= Racefans.net RF: Was it a seat fitting or just to look around? LS: I was just in the area. RF: Coincidentally? LS: Just coincidentally in the area. I took a wrong turn out of London, took a right turn out of London and drove north.
I never thought I would be cheering for Sirtokin. It's such a satisfaction when he gets ahead of Stroller.
I'll give him this: Given the same situation, how many of us would've done the same? I certainly would. But if my talents weren't there (like his), I'd be looking at making a quiet exit from F1 and move to prototype racing instead of buying an entire F1 team. For my F1 fix I'd buy a Ferrari V10 car and join F1 Clienti...
