I would disagree on the major thing.
If you due ur due dilligence, get a ppi, and call the shop where the car has been serviced, get service records this is more than enough.
My car had been done at algar ferrari with an extensive service and it gave me the piece of mind which ended up being correct since the car cost next to nothing over a year.

A ppi can only show you so much - you don't really get into it until you start the major. You might have gotten lucky, you might have had a great prior owner, but if you buy exotics consistently I promise you won't always get that lucky. I've had plenty of PPIs at authorized dealers that missed major items.

Enjoy your car as much as possible and be happy it worked out well!

    Thanks,
    Erik

I agree completely. And you sound like a guy that wants things to be truly sorted, not just a year of problem free driving.

You got a hell of a car for the money. Even if you spend a year sorting it out you really did well. Id love to chat with you privately once you get it. Curious how it shows upon receipt

I honestly do not agree. Buy the right car u are not going to have that mucb problems& when u buy from a reputable dealer they will fix it. As much as i dont like ferrari of central Florida they covered at their expenses: alternator, battery, cats, fuel gauge and a full service. U get what u pay for.

Not really bc i did a Ppi with them and they said those things work; the car arrived and it didn’t; i told them its lawsuit or u fix it.
They not only fixed it but gave me cash for the inconvenience.
One thing i learnt about America: always have a good lawyer friend.
True story- u can ask feralc; he has the receipt of what they paid for;)

Good question, I did. PPI caught some of my issues in a general sense but not in detail. For example, I knew interior was refinished but re-installed poorly. I did not know the extent of what that meant; lights not turning on bc crimped wires between dash panels, glovebox hinges on backward preventing it from opening, etc. took me a few weeks to sort it out. I did the work myself and took pride in it. Came out beautifully.

Aside from interior/dash related issues, the only thing PPI missed was shoulder seatbelts dont retract. Ferrari has already said they’re within warranty on the original recall work so I would never make a stink over it. That said its annoying.

Ferrari of Houston doesnt do PPI’s, likely for reasons like your experience, so I couldnt use them- had to go indie.

Today’s project, cutting and buffing the engine cover. Water and swirl marks were crazy bad. The rest of the paint clearly had a recent paint correction bc it is flat as a board and no swirl marks. Incredible original paint. Stone chips and dings, sure. But original

Yes I learned that when I wash the car I dry that area right away because the heat of the motor would create watermarks in seconds. And they are impossible two remove because the lack of clear coat unless you use some product (I used Teflon based one and not too hard)

Glad you're happy, do not know many people that would turn down a great condition Diablo Roadster that far under market price. You could have bought it and flipped for market price and made a bundle.

Maybe you could have, but not for nothing the 97 is the least desirable Roadster, small brakes, no VVT.
