I may be late to the party, but I wasn’t aware Syria even had an airforce. Pretty cool to see these still active.

The Soviet Union was supplying them, and their Arab neighbors, with fighters even before the 1967 Six-Day War.

There are still quite a few countries operating the MiG-21, such a cool looking jet.

I read somewhere that there are 40 or 50 privately owned MiG-21's in the US.

The USAF at one time probably had as many -21 and -23's as Syria did.

Did the interviewer choose such a large microphone so that it would fit in with the era those jets came from? ;)

    Still, interesting stuff!

Obsolescent aircraft work great as long as they are uncontested and you can find parts.

There is a great book called Red Eagles: America's Secret MiGs, about the MiGs brought to the U.S.

Same thing is happening to me, Taz. I'm uncontested, I think, but finding new or even used parts is getting tougher. Super Glue and Duck Tape work sometimes, tho.

Bob- For me it is better life through chemistry, and I have fewer miles than you do.

Bob, I think that's what was holding your airshow airplane together.....
