One of my good friends and fellow Countach owner is in a video made by driving.ca. He has a beautiful black/ black fuelie with 12,000km. The car is very original and in amazing condition. The sound coming off of the Ansa exhaust is pure Countach. I love videos like this that truly show how amazing the Countach is. Enjoy...
I was under the impression that Canadian delivered vehicles didn't come with the US DOT appendages? Have I got that wrong?
They did. My car is an ‘86 down draft and it too came with the “hybrid” front bumper, rear bumperettes & side maker lights. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Work progressing on our early 86 car. This car is just a few cars away from my 86 DD so it’s a really early car converted to pass the new US emissions in 86. As we are taking the car apart you can see how the cars were finished to a very high degree 1) body painted, fiberglass tire whells installed on body, body painted and inside black out complete, before they started drilling and hacking into the body to make the unfortunate emission modifications. You can tell there was no real planing or serious engineering as they repurposed plastic trays, pieces of metal and other things from apparently whatever they had lying around. Further proof that the emission modifications were not originally planned and done after the cars were already fairly far along on the assembly line. John, I bet our VIN’s are close. Mine is only a few cars after Joe’s. Mine is GLA12002, built June 1986. Mike
Hello, I would need some help at my bumper conversion to EU. Could everyone help me or take me a few pictures where I can see how is a euro bumper mounted in the middle of the inner structure front compartment. Countach QV Fi. I work on my countach to switch the US bumper. Thanks a lot
I will try to get some pictures of my conversion ,wich worked out well, on another note, amazing how good and well preserved these bolts are after 30 years of service, right side cyl head, very rear bolt. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I’ve decided to get serious about my Countach search and I’ve narrowed my focus on a US fuel injected QV. I have a pretty defined criteria of what I’m looking for so I don’t expect the ideal car to just pop-up without time and effort. Though owning high end exotics isn’t new to me (I currently own two Ferrari’s and I’ve owned others) I would appreciate any experienced advice from those that know these cars so that I’m prepared to act when the right car presents itself. Id also welcome the opportunity to speak with anyone willing to talk.
Contact me if you want a car. I have one available for sale, and I can put you in direct contact with the owner. The car is in canada..if that makes any difference to you. 1987, red tan with gold wheels, 18k km..or there abouts. Might even be less. I'll have to look at the paper work. Shoot me a PM if you want to discuss over the phone..
Sounds like a good plan. make up your mind firmly if buying a car wich you can keep using and maintaining as is,drive ,service, buff some scratches, iow, get in and go. In this case, get a long term one owner car,Privat ,maintained up to date, meet the owner ,feel it out, gut feeling. Then go. My list of repairs are these: clutch slave cyl, brake light switch,Fuel pump relay, Fuel pumps(by choice not neccesity, the old worked fine, just me and 20 year old electric and fuel combo thing) ac compressor,r34 conversion, brake pads, 2 batteries, ign box was replaced under warr 1993,(when my friend owned it,ign is part of the emission, wich by law is 10 year cover in the Us,Lamborghini gave inn on this, even thou the cars warr was expired, and replaced the box, have had no issues since) new plug cables,(red) Alternator,(Porsche 944/928) and Radiators out and repaired tiny leaks, also uppgraded cooling fans, worked fine with old ones, but these are better, also complete re wire and fuse layout of the left side relay box,( horribly done from factory) also did valve check/adj @ 9k km, keep in mind, most of these parts are commonly used in major german brands, and can be sourced, altough George Evans know Most Countach owners are gear heads and are aware of this and have been real good on pricing, this way you dont have to hunt for stuff. This is my story,in addition, oils and fluids on a reg basis, new P7 tires, If your plan is a total resto, ground up,inkl 100% mec tear down, you will have a few more cars to choose from, beeing you will have the chance to fix every little detail during the resto process.Remember, you can always do an Engine out,mec re build, live with a few scratches, some interior wear, and so on, drive ,enjoy. Total restos are nice, beautiful, but does not make your car any more reliable, just prettier. No matter what degree of restoration, the core of the car is still 30 years old, steel, fiberglass, aluminum ,and so on,paint is new, but the car is still the same old car, everything mec,as bearings bushings and such can be done as needed, Not as shiny and pretty, but there is something really cool about a 30 year old car beeing maintained an kept up,and used , Think Harrys car. Joes car is absolutely beautiful.but also adds 250 k to your budget, Your choice, happy hunting.
Hi Tom and fellow Fchatters, The vehicle Tom mentioned is actually my car and it just turned over 12,xxx kms. It is an original car with original paint and beautiful throughout/runs very well. Just had it out on the highway last week. Bought it with 4,800 or so kms on it. It has been well maintained over the years and lots of work done to keep it reliable as can be. Have had it nearly 10 years now and have been somewhat considering selling it but haven't advertised the car etc. Feel free to reach out to Tom with any questions.

Thanks for posting. I’m curious, is your car a “Canadian” car? Was it originally sold in the US? If so, what is the difference between a US and Canadian car, or are they exactly the same?
Originally sold and delivered in USA and held in a collection for many years in Florida. Don’t believe there was any difference with Canada and USA spec Countach in 87. It can go back to USA no issue. Hope that helps
