In 2017 these are races Ferrari had the pace to win starting with 1) Russian GP where Vettel got beaten by Bottas even though he started on pole. 2) In Canada he had the pace to win but instead he had another one of his 1st lap entanglements this time with Verstappen which put paid to any chance of winning. 3) Everyone knows about Baku 2017 so I won’t rehash it. 4) Austria Vettel had another open goal what with Lewis’ gear box penalty earning him a 5 place grid drop but again he failed to convert as Bottas again managed to beat him. 5) In Spa Vettel had the faster package but failed to put it on pole and got stuck behind Hamilton all the way to the checkered flag. 6) Started on pole in Mexico but another one of his kamikaze 1st lap incidents left him working his way from the back of the field and failed to win even though Ferrari were the fastest all weekend.

So yes I stand by my own analysis that Vettel had the best package of 2017 but failed to deliver the title, much like the way it is playing out in 2018.

Ferrari had a faster car in certain races last year due to tyres, and how the Mercedes struggled. Their struggles were mainly evident int he early part of the season, after which, on the whole, the Mercedes remained significantly the faster car. I don’t remember anyone last year claiming that the ferrari was the one to beat, and that Vettel in any way threw away the title.... the Mercedes over the 19 or 20 races proved itself again the dominant car, end of.

Elton doesn't fit in a Ferrari.
His ego wouldn't fit.
His helmet colours wouldn't match.
The only way he would, eventually, look a little smarter, would be with his visor down.

Sales of Ferrari roadcars would drop by at least 50 %.

I think you have the distinct ability of expressing your personal distaste for someone without that affecting your opinion of his abilities.

 

This year is still very much up for grabs. A couple of bad races for Elton and positions swap. In 2017 Vettel made one huge error of judgement. Other than Baku his mistakes were minimal and Max VerCrashin was his worst enemy costing him several races.

A driver wanted to go to Ferrari....?! What a shock. It’s only every drivers dream. Even Elton says “Red is my favorite color”. Did Vettel get a reality check, maybe. It’s the same reality check he needs and will receive now with LeClerc.

All this stupid whining about Vettel, IF Hamilton had gone to Ferrari and they refused to get Raikkonen to support his title challenge he would be in the exact same situation. Mercedes-Benz had a car that was perhaps 5% better and he could win at will but this year the difference has been Bottas playing wing man and either screwing the Ferraris challenge so Hamilton can win or taking the win when Hamilton can't to limit the pain. Why Ferrari supporters want Raikkonen to beat Vettel when all that does is hand Hamilton another WDC is beyond me.....

 

1 - There were other egocentric drivers in Ferrari before.
2 - Did Massa's helmet "match"? Still, he can come up with a new design that matches with the rosso scuderia.
3 - Dumb guy who have intelligently beat Alonso, then made a bold move by joining the ex- Brawn team, and then won another 3 world championships.
4 - Sales would drop? It doesn't make any sense.

I have never been a Hamilton supporter, but I am fed up with Vettel's errors. A straight swap between them would be great for the sport.

Com'on Flavio, I was kind of joking. Of course they all have a huge ego, but the one of Elton would make the Ferrari melt!
And yes, sales would drop. I am not sure if you are an owner or not. But identity and choice of lifestyle is VERY IMPORTANT for most Ferrari owners. Their Ferrari is their treasure, it's the highest standard of Italian refined technology and design.
Most owners I know wouldn't like to be associated with a guy like Elton, as he is the total opposite of refinement and classy style.
