I think that if you´re a 4 time world champion, you should be already inmune to pressure. Except if you got those 4 world championships without fighting in the mud. The risks of being succesful too early.

  5. You're oh so right. But his moment with Ferrari will come. It's just a question of time...

In person Max is a down to earth, truly good kid, but he thinks he can beat anyone with the right car. When he became karting world champion Leclerc came in second or third, I don't remember exactly. He is clearly frustrated with his car and seeing Leclerc overtake him to a top seat is probably not going down well.

If Honda turns Red Bull competitive next year, we will see a lot of wheel bangging between Charles and Max. :)

It looks to me that Red Bull was in a hurry to lock Verstappen in a multi-years contract very early in the season,
Probably influenced by his father, the higher retainer and the wish to secure his seat before Ricciardo, Max took the bait and signed in a hurry.
Maybe a seat at Ferrari was out of the question then; it was too early for the Scuderia to chose its drivers for 2019 at this stage.
Verstappen, who took himself out of the drivers' market, may reflect on his haste now.
He may live to regret staying at Red Bull-Honda.

Ricciardo waited a bit longer and took a different gamble.
    Only time will tell ...

Ferrari would never put Verstappen next to Vettel. Verstappen was only waiting on if Lewis would extend his contract or not.

That said I do agree, he had no real reason to sign quickly. It's not like Red Bull would get rid of him. I do hope the Honda engine will be decent next year. It qualified alright in Monza and Spa, both power circuits.

I think Honda is actualy making good progress, it took them ages but i think now they have a decent base on wich to improve, and they are breaking the bank to do it.....i think they will absolutly trow everything they've got on making that engine a decent thing....

    Good luck to them !

They really owe it to F1 to participate properly rather than just making up the numbers.

Agreed. Let's see how he does his first year in the big boys seat. I'm expecting some bumps and stumbles along the way but it's a learning curve.

He is a very capable driver, but I would hate to see him get chewed up and spit out like Kvyat.

So this makes LeClerc the youngest driver to ever join Ferrari???

    Ricardo Rodriguez was 19yo & 213days.

Guess we can call this thread ''Charles Leclerc, Ferrari driver'' now

Very happy that he's got his dream job. Hope he'll learn from all his mistakes and hits the ground running.

Hopefully will push Vettel and also rattle the competition, Kimi was past his sell by date and apart from the odd race here and there has always been a step behind Vettel.

Happy to see Charles in a Ferrari next year. It may be too soon, but I think he'll do well!

I was very hopeful since we ran into him at Montana back in July - and I asked him "so you in a Ferrari next year?" and he said "lets hope so!"

My thoughts exactly. I think he has a ton of talent and potential, so I would hate to see him pushed too far too fast and get destroyed. We know the Italian press will be all over him for the slightest mistake.

Wow, Kimi continuing to move backwards in the twilight years of his career. I feel sad for him but happy for Leclerc who has great potential to prove out to the world. I wonder why he would stay on to race at Sauber??? Must be the paycheck

Still wish the team would replace Vettel though...
