There was a stand at the UK FOC National Meeting/Garden Party where the whole ensemble was on display. I did not want to appear too interested so did not have a good look but my views on the stand have not changed! I believe they were hoping to sell 12 of them and towards the end of the day had sold 8 (or numbers like that). Does anyone know anything yet about the actual book, which is not due for release until later this year?

FWIW, I think it would look awesome next to the Opus![/QUOTE]

Agreed, just a shed load of money to be tied up in two books.

Value is something particular due to the individual perspective...
Received my collector´s edition today - I was so exited and now I am satisfied - it is really a piece of art and well done.

right - once you have seen it in the flesh (as I did in Mugello last year) you know that you have to have it - at least the collector's edition...

It looks very nice but I can't help noticing you don't seem to have actually opened the book and this is the book collectors thread and not the art collectors thread so please can you say something about the book? Is it any good. Is it new content or (like the Opus) content reprinted from elsewhere?

Books can be art as well...;-) Of course I have opened it and leafed it through (not yet read). There seem to be quite some pictures known from other publications, but there are also some pictures I have not yet seen elsewhere, especially from the early times. Despite the announcements in the advertising you won't find a copy of Enzo's diary, but at least a picture of its last page.
The content is not a reprint, it is (newly) written by Pino Allievi - The book is a nice combination of full-page pictures and separate printed reports in connection with the different chapters.
I will post some more pictures of the content (and the look) next week (still have it in my office due to the size and weight...)

Thank you. Pino Allievi is a very fine journalist so that bodes well.

The set looks pretty nice. Taschen usually does things the right way. I just don't understand the value vs price discussion. Price is what you pay and value is what you get. If you like the thing and can afford it, just buy it. Who cares what it is worth in 10 years, it's not supposed to be an investment (like any car). An edition of almost 2000 copies/examples is quite high, but one day it might be an even higher priced collectible than it is today.

The book looks really great! Can you yell me what the small black book is? Does it come with the Ferrari book?

yes, the black book is part of the deal.
It contains some nice pictures as well but on the first hand it is a summary of all Ferrari victories 1947-2017 (I read about sophisticated questions regarding what kind of races have been included)...

I have to admit that I am impressed. "All the victories" sounds overly ambitious but the list shows also victories from much lesser known racing series like the Aston Martin Owners Club Intermarque Championship and FARA.

Hello members! I would like to ask you something. Are there any good books talking about Ferrari the Man in general, Road cars and F1 & Pcars? All these, separately? I mean one book for each of those mentioned. I'm not talking about expensive ones, like Opus etc. And about the cars..let's say up to 458 Speciale.

    Any recommendations would be appreciated?

    Thank you in advance,

    Greg :)
